It is very unwise of LHL to jump into the Filipino Independence Proposal fray without thinking carefully.

Did LHL consider the possible consequences of allowing Filipinos to celebrate their Independence Day at Ngee Ann City? Some possible consequences are:

1. Will there be possible law and order infringements when a big and boisterous crowd gather at Ngee Ann City on 8 Jun?
2. Who is responsible for law and order at Ngee Ann City? Must be SPF!
3. Can SPF ensure law and order on 8 Jun? What will be NJH's inputs?
4. Does the SPF recommend that a permit be issued for the celebrations?
5. Will India Embassy apply for permit to celebrate its National Day at Little India if 8 Jun permit is given? What wld LHL say then?
6. Will China apply for permit to celebrate PRC National Day in Oct? what will LHL say?
7. If permit is given, LHL is opening a can of worms.

Why didnt LHL think before he shoots off his mouth? Is he a loose cannon? Why did he just chastise Singaporeans without thinking

There is wisdom in confining National Day celebrations within the Embassy as the respective country will ensure law and order within its compound.

Will NJH now stand up, brief and advise the Cabinet to use their common sense and refuse to issue the permit?

Let us see whether LHL is man enough to acknowledge that he had exercised poor judgement and had made a fool of himself.

Or is this a blessing in disguise that hammers a nail in pap's coffin?

There are several issues that work against LHL's outburst:

1. Why allow a foreign country to celebrate its National Day in a public area?
2. Will LHL allow if I apply for a permit to celebrate SG's National day at Ngee Anne City on 9 Aug?
3. Can the SPF cope with law and order on 8 Jun?
4. Will LHL now allow every country to celebrate their National Day at Ngee Ann City or a location of their choice?

A big can of worms indeed!

LHL's outburst defied simple logic. I am very worried for SG... having such an irrational and illogical PM

Will SPF be unprofessional and abdicate their responsibilities and not exercise good sense in their advice?

Nothing drastic may happen on 8 Jun...but if this concept of allowing every foreign country to celebrate their national day in a public place is a time bomb waiting to explode. One day chaos and riot will happen during one of these independence celebrations

Can they be articulate enough to make LHL swallow his rhetoric and make him lose face?

No ministers will dare to object or go against LHL even if he make a mistake,
no one would point it out, b'cos they are just trained ball less minsters!! Yes man!

Next one will be PRC they too want to celebrate their national day although they are PR holders
but still patriotic to their country of origin! blundering PAP making fooking mistake by allowing
tons of trash into Sickapoor!!

I live in a country where national day is being celebrated with a shrimp on the barbie and a cold beer on one hand. Other national days are private affairs being held in embassies or private premises. The Singapore government might be trying something new just like the GRCs to justify their million dollar pay. World's first status, perhaps that is how they can justify their ROI. Singaporean are being daft, ungrateful to appreciate they have done for them.
