Don't worry, Najib will pick up the tab. Malaysian Airlines has been used by UMNOputras to cream the government. I heard from a friend who told me that the airline is forced to procure through middleman. And the middleman is always an UMNO crony. For example, the supplier of napkins to the airline charges RM2 per pack, but after going through the middleman, the price jumps to RM6. That's the UMNO way of transferring wealth from the Chinese to Malays.

Malaysia will go broke soon.

There is no way MAS will go broke, because MH370 is a big cover up.
The perpetrators will pay off MAS debts to keep their big mouths shut.

In fact, the plane disappearance is a windfall for MAS.

National Airlines are typically carried on the state books when they do not make money. Anyway for these things there is always insurance coverage. The only issue is subdued demand but eventually it will bounce back when customers react to discounted fares and promotions. Whether it will be profitable or continue to run at a loss as in the past is to be seen.

The talk on Air Asia taking over certain routes fell through some time ago. Will there be a buyout by Airasia now?, or the Malaysian government would be looking to sell off the debts of MAS...??

base on historical , MAS still the best. Its time to buy the share (MYR0.205). good buy.

I hers it's 54 mil, this include daily cost of the ships involved. Then again, these are state funded by the variouse government. Does Malaysia have to pay for these as well?

Search done on goodwill. For the greater good of mankind. Malaysia may end of the day cover the cost partially or in full out of its treasury voluntarily.

State owned Malaysia airline not likely to close shop as it's funded by tax payers $$$.
They are likely to chuck up huge pile of debts and perhaps take years to repay all the parties.

When the Aussies need to call in a (diplomatic) favour, their hand will certainly be strengthened by the help they have given to the Malaysians.
It's interesting to note that since Australia have taken over the JACC role, events have moved a lot faster compared with the shambles at the beginning of this search.

I think.

It is hard to put a cost on all these search and rescue.

The assets and personnel involved are already pre-paid by the respective govts to prepare for events such as this. Think defense.

It is the additional running cost, including things like fuel that Malaysia should pay.

Our tax used to search for a missing plane then.
