Migrating from SIM to nano SIM

Got my new phone & trying to figure out if there is painless method to migrate all the old tel numbers on the old SIM card to the newer nano SIM

If both phones were using the same SIM size it would be easy to port the numbers but they are different. Any one have any helpful suggestions:confused:
Should I try to get a SIM card cloner? Are they available in Spore?

There are SIM cxard cutter in market. Cutting Normal size SIM card to mini Size SIM card.
Shop may do it for u free if you buy phone from them.
If direct Singtel/M!/Starhub they will just ask you to replace SIM card , so they can charge u the SIM card price.
If you cut the old SIM cxard to mini size u no need to wait for activation >>>>free and all number remain nothing change.
If you replace new mini SIM card need to wait 1~2 hour to activate with extra cost $21 plus GST.

I bought a sim card cutter a few years back delivered to home. Normal to micro size. I hear that nano sim is also thinner than micro sim while micro and normal sim have the same thickness so i don't know how they cut it thinner or maybe you can just force it in.

I "persuaded" M1 to forego the $37 dollar fee they wanted for a new nano SIM card:)
That is why it is better to avoid signing a contrac because you can threaten to move to another telcot;)

However I am thinking of cloning the SIM card so that I can use it with in my older hand phones.

Fuck! Why use mobile phone when you're in the air, you cannot contact anyone when you sense trouble.

other than trimming your sim card, your other problem was your contact numbers.

if you were using android phone, place sim card into new android phone and sign in your gmail account.
phone contact and bookmarks will show automatically as per your phone but not your messages.

Hmm .... that is why I may have to look at clonning the SIM card or look into the gmail thing

One thing that surprises me about the iPhone 5S is that for a premium product there is no documentation in the box. Only a small piece of paper:eek:

I had an iPhone 3GS & it included a few pages of instructions & the all important liquid metal SIM tool. The provided instruction sheet that came with the 5s does not even show the location of the SIM tray.
I think Apple is slipping without Steve Jobs.

The iPhone 5S

While the iPhone 5S includes a handful of new features that set it apart from Apple's previous model, the actual cost to make the phone hasn't changed very much, according to a new study.

An IHS teardown of the new smartphone found that the components that make up a 16-gigabyte iPhone 5S cost $190.70. Manufacturing costs add another $8, bringing the total production cost to $198.70.

In comparison, the iPhone 5, which hit the market a year ago, cost $197 to make.

Andrew Rassweiler, IHS' senior director for cost benchmarking services, noted that the 5S includes features new to the smartphone world, such as a 64-bit apps processor and a fingerprint identification sensor, without a significant jump in costs.

The research firm also dissected a 16-gigabyte iPhone 5C, a cheaper version of the 5S, and put its total production cost at $173.45, including $7 in manufacturing costs.
iPhone 5C
The iPhone 5C.

Rassweiler said the 5C is basically an iPhone 5 wrapped in plastic, noting that it has basically the same features, but benefits from typical component price drops, along with its cheaper plastic enclosure.

The 5C has a starting sticker price of $549, but will sell for $99 with a two-year wireless contract. It's Apple's least-expensive iPhone ever and is an effort to boost sales in China and other areas where people don't have as much money to spend on new gadgets as they do in the U.S. and Europe. But critics have said that the phone is still too expensive to sell well in emerging markets.

IHS said that while it costs substantially less to produce an iPhone 5C than it did an iPhone 5, those costs are still on the high side.

It added that in order to merit the low-end smartphone pricing of $400 that many industry observers had expected, while maintaining typical Apple profit margins, the company would need to reduce its 5C production costs to about $130.

Monday Apple reported that it sold 9 million of the two new models since their launch on Friday — its strongest iPhone launch ever — and that demand was exceeding supply.

The iPhone is being purchased by non-techies. For some it is their 1st iphone. I can imagine the potential frustration by someone who is a newbie to the iPhone.

Imagine a customers frustration after reaching home they find they need a paper clip. It's something like a child receives a new electric toy without the batteries.
Take myself for example, I already have paper clips but the ones that I have ar too large.

Use iPhone first also can, I did once before to export the contacts in my iPhone to sony phone.. Cannot remember the exact steps as more than a year ago but remember it was not difficult..

I checked with various stores & the best solution that I have found is to take my SIM card to a phone shop & pay $2 have them trim it down to a nano sized card. If I want to use the nano sized SIM with my other phones I can use an adaptor. Bought a set of SIM adaptors with an ejection tool for $4.

Only the telcos can issue SIM cards. I found out that no one else has the ability to clone(duplicate) a SIM card. The 3rd party clone kits will only clone older SIM cards & not the newer ones because of the encryption used on these SIM cards.
