Singaporeans receive the least benefits, yet pay the highest taxes

Leong Sze Hian and Roy Ngerng have written about the tax system in Singapore and how it compares with the Nordic countries. They found that the tax and social security/CPF that Singaporeans are paying (on top of the out-of-pocket expenditure for essentials such as healthcare, education and housing) isn't too far off what the Nordic citizens are paying, and might in fact be on par.

Watch this video to understand how Singapore's tax system is unequal and causes the poor in Singapore to be the worst off, among all the high-income countries, and how the high-income earners ironically have it best in Singapore.

Do you think such an unfair and regressive tax structure is healthy for the future of Singapore?

How else do you think the PAP govt became so rich? You think that's due to its brilliant overseas investments?

Give less, take more. Take some more, and give back even lesser. Rinse and repeat.

Even the upgrading of public housing... do you think it's free, and residents need not pay a dime?
