</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I HAD entered Dhoby Ghaut MRT station on a Friday night via the Plaza Singapura walkway which is maintained by SBS Transit, hoping to catch the last train on the North-South Line to City Hall MRT station. However, after walking through the passage to the North-South Line, announcements were made that the last train had left the station.
I then proceeded to the control centre manned by SMRT staff to ask for a refund but was told I could not have one; the reason being that, as I had entered via the SBS Transit fare gates, I had to claim the refund from SBS Transit.
Walking back, I was greeted by an empty SBS Transit control centre and an officer came to assist me only after 10 minutes. However, my request for a refund was again rejected as I had 'spent too much time in the station' before asking for it. When I told the officer of my previous rejected request from SMRT, he replied that SMRT can make the refund, even though I had entered via SBS Transit's fare gates.
In the end, my request for the refund was rejected and I had to pay just to enter the station. A few other passengers also had their request for a refund rejected as we waited for the officer to return from closing the station gates.
I hope that SMRT and SBS Transit can clarify whether this 'buffer time' in MRT stations is appropriate in a situation like this, when there is no officer in the control centre. Lee Ken Tat

what a low standard system they got. If they still allow people to enter, then they must make sure the passenger must have enough time to get onto the train. There should be some kind of communication between the control station and the train itself, at least for the last train.

this kind of standard is totally not acceptable in a self-claim 1st world country.

taichi masters ...

If the last train has left the station, I think it's better to lock all the gates to prevent folks from getting into the platform. :D

In this case, cannot complain no refund, ya? :p

taichi masters ...

SMRT & SBS transit owned by one parent company...TEMASEK!!, which belong to the government, and only now this commuter know about the TAICHI MASTERS? :D , just pay & get home...afterall if he is the 66.6, it is the system he bred!
