after living with android for more than 1 year, i suggest you avoid android, they keep changing firmware, i do not see the difference in functionality, but keep getting slower and slower.

The problem with Samsung is that it likes to add a lot of additional crap (it calls 'features') to their phones, even though there may be little or no practical use for it. Case in point: Galaxy S4's finger hover and eyeball tracking.
Samsung would do anything to try and outshine Apple. Unfortunately, Samsung is not very good at software, and consequently it results in software bloat.

Most people do not want to engage in geeky activities such as rooting the phone. They want the device to work perfect straight out of the box.

If you don't mind lesser apps and a hideous (in my opinion) UI, Microsoft Windows phones may be good.
You'll still need to install the Zune software to backup and sync your phone... similar to the Nokia PC Suite.
it is bloody ugly. code is good, but i cannot take the look of it.
This Ipad Air is my 1st iPad. Since this is my first iPad I don't have any preconceived ideas on what is beautiful & ugly. So it is easier for people like me.
The only complaint I have is some of the icons are too small for my finger & I have to use a stylus. Example when reading & navigating within Sammyboy. Fortunately I got a stylus from Amazon. Now I am looking for a new Ipad case that has a built-in pocket to store the stylus. I don't always need to use a stylus but will want it if I need it.

Samsung is planning to go head-to-head on the high street with rival Apple by opening a host of stores in the UK and Europe.
The South Korean firm has teamed up with Carphone Warehouse to open 60 stores in seven markets including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Sweden and the Netherlands.
Stores will sell Samsung's full range of mobiles, tablet computers, laptops and wearables and will be rolled out over the next three months.

iPhone 4s is probably the best in terms of size, price point, stability, and OS interface.
Samsung sucks. For Android phones, I only buy Huawei and HTC. Have yet to check out Xiaomi.

Samsung, the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, is also beginning to face challenges in key markets, including in Europe and China, according to Kantar. The analyst notes Samsung sales were down 2.2 percentage points year on year in Europe to 40.3 percent.
Samsung also lost its crown in China to upstart Xiaomi — maker of the Mi2, Mi3 and low-end Red Rice phone — which became the country's biggest smartphone seller.
"In December, Xiaomi overtook both Apple and Samsung to become the top selling smartphone in China — a truly remarkable achievement for a brand which was only started in 2010 and sells its device almost exclusively online," Sunnebo said.
"The combination of high spec devices, low prices and an ability to create unprecedented buzz through online and social platforms has proved an irresistible proposition for the Chinese."
Xiaomi has previously pipped Apple for market share in China, but hasn't come close to knocking Samsung from its perch. In November, analyst firm Canalys reported Samsung's share in China was 21 percent, well ahead of local rivals such as Xiaomi, as well as Apple. None of Samsung's rivals had double-digit shares at the time.
In China, Windows Phone's market share is 1.1 percent, behind iOS at 19 percent and Android at 78.6 percent.
