Govt. finally hires company to check education qualifications of Indian FTs

People on this forum have been saying for years that many of these FTs are using fake uni certs to get a job here. It is now finally confirmed the PAP and MOM have in the past suka suka let people in to steal singaporean jobs without checking on their paper qualifications. SO, any tom dick and harry in india can lie and say they have this and that degree, and they are allowed in. Companies depending on MOM, assume that their job candidates are already vetted by MOM end up hiring incompetent shit heads. What kind of fucked up govt. is this? Only now, they realise that alot of Indians are lying pieces of shits? These Indian FTs that come here do so because they cannot get in the US to work. Western countries have a far more onerous requirement in order to get a work permit in their countries.

Even so, MOM is hiring this company to do only random checks of the Indian's qualifications for those Indians already working in SIngapore. Nabeh cheebye, why don't they do checks on ALL the Indians and not random checks. Why do checks now, when they are already in the country? Shouldn't checks be done before they are allowed in? And what about checks done on PRC and Filipinos FTs? When will they start that, if ever? Its unbelievable that the PAP demand million $ salaries but deliver this kind of crap product to the people. And whatwill be the punishment if they find out the FT is lying about his degrees? A free trip back ala deportation? I suggest the govt. should cane the, fine them, take all the money they earned while here, and send them back. But i already know Gay Loong has no balls to piss off other country's govt. Really pathetic.


In an unusual move, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is turning to an overseas firm to ferret out foreigners who lie about their qualifications in work pass applications.

Last month, the ministry hired Dataflow Services (India) - a firm in New Delhi - to conduct random checks on education certificates and employment history declared by Indian nationals working in Singapore.

Even marriage and birth certificates are scrutinised, The Straits Times has learnt.

When contacted, the MOM said that although it is the employer's responsibility to ensure that the documents in work pass applications are genuine, the ministry will use "independent verification channels" like Dataflow to conduct its own random audits.

Mission critical jobs like doctors, medical technologist, pharmacist, civil engineers must be vetted at highest level. Not just to sub con it out to another Indian 3 party but actual correspondence with the universities, peer groups And continue to be vetted. Meaning if kena DUI in Singapore = bye bye

Then you have the rest. These guys ok to use 3 party to validify but ministry itself should still conduct some of these follow ups as part of an audit of this 3rd party. Just charge the applicant another $500 for processing fee and ministry will have a department, staffed with Singaporeans, vetting these applications. This department will travel to India, China to check on the accreditation of some of these universitities.

The worker can start working based on their initial application but if they lie, they will be caught and expelled regarding of how well they did in Singapore. Singapore also can offer to provide a general conduct of a person's performance while he was on a work permit in Singapore (where he worked, in what position, and any criminal activities). This certificate would help those that want to transfer to another job here or overseas. And not providing this certificate (certificate can only be requested by the individual) might mean a blemish on the person's record while he was in Singapore.

After all if there is fraud on behalf of this 3rd party the result is to fire the 3rd party but the damage done to Singapore workplace would be huge since we could be having substandard workers replaces qualified Singaporeans.

I can tell you these snake skins will sell each other down the river for $100. They will work most diligently to betray their own countrymen for this kind of money. Or u high a company in India owned by Sikhs to do the checking. They hate the Hindus and Muslims, they will also work most diligently to screw this fakers up. I think they can quite easily dig up 10,000 fake degree holders.

This is a good point and the way to do it. Actually, the consulate in India should be doing it, as they are on the spot and they take work permit applications from the Indians.

You sure mom will even pay them 100 bonus? The PAP pay 100 extra for this? Comeon you should know how pap work. They wouldn't even waste an extra cent. It's fucking stupid the company comes from shitland itself. That already shows this is useless.

To apply meritocracy so strictly to its own citizenry but be so lax when employing foreigners especially these sort of cheats is a big joke if it were not so sad. I hope they take more steps to properly weed out those FTs who do not deserve to be here and give our own boys and girls more chances of being trained for and having careers. Not many of us want or need freebies, we just want a level playing field and a Government that tries to help its own people.

They are a hong kong based company, but very small. Only 300 staff. that's why they have to do random checks, not enough manpower to check every body. one of the top people in the company is an indian, the founder is an angmo. there have been some reports that there are 1500 fake companies giving reference checks to potential employers. these guys actually go out to the unis and to the prior workplace of the Fts to check their background. I don't know why MOM cannot hire 30 singaporeans and post them to India to do the checking.

However, some of the onus has to fall on the companies who hire them too. u cannot just rely on MOM when they say that these people who got S passes are qualified professionals in their trade. They have to ask MOM how they confirm and vet these people. MOM will admit they don't vet them at all, in which case they have to either hire their own screeners or do their own diligence properly before hiring these people. worse yet, many companies hire Indians in their HR departments, which is like letting the fox manage the hen house. companies are tripping over themselves to hire cheap FT so they can fire their expensive local workers and earn more money. they don't understand these fake degree holders will cost them more money in the long run.
