The following is a statement by a person who has spent more time on two-wheels than almost anybody else on the planet. I agree with his views on this crappy piece of metal that is so expensive and yet so much sought after. A real piece of shit.

“ In terms of pure work-manship, personally I don't like Harleys. I ride them because I'm in the club, and that's the image, but if I could I would seriously consider riding a Honda ST1100 or a BMW. We really missed the boat not switching over to the Japanese models when they began building bigger bikes. I'll usually say "Fuck Harley-Davidson." ”

Harley Davidson is more like a Cult!

Whereas practicality and good performance, durability, economy,
lesser technical problems I go for Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki or Suzuki!!
maybe range 1100-1300cc engine type.

Ducati not too bad, I like the aggressive sound gru......gr.....

Really? I havent riden one before. But I have friends who own one. I like harley for the sound they produce. And after I get my class 2, harley will be the 2nd bike i wil buy.

Now watch the American cock suckers come in to praise harley cos its american and a harley but just change the brand name harley to a Chinese one and these same fuckers would condemn it.

China brand bikes have a sound too.

I havent come across a china made motorbike that sound like a harley.

As a long time car and motor enthusiast, frankly speaking I will not risk my life buying any China brand vehicles.. A Mat colleague bought a Chery car years ago at a Pasar Malam.. Barely months after buying the car, the back door failed to open, aircon was making problems..

For high end motors, established brands like Honda, BMW, Harley, Triumph still the best.. Bought the earlier model of BMW R 1200 GS Adventure around 5 years ago and that bike was the best bikes I ever owned..

The fact of the matter is that making a sound isn't one of the criteria of a bike. I was just showcasing to you if a china made bike made the same exact sound somehow that is bad but no for a harley.

Frens, not surprised that we should be talking about "sound" because that is what Harley prides itself on. In this, I do not regard it as a well made machine. A modern day machine should be as quiet as possible, probably just a purring sound. With current technology, anyone who manufactures anything that makes a thumping noise ought to be ashamed of their creation. That's where bikes like Honda's Gold Wing and BMWs excel. But sound is exactly where H-D likes to be unique. It is the image of a "wild one" and the bad-boy image it creates. I suppose it has created a market for itself. Anyways, my idea of a nice bike is something light and sleek, not big, heavy and brutish. My favourite ride would be a light-middleweight café racer and not a boulevard basher beast.

I read that he joined the US army at the age of 17 and was thrown out because he was too young then. Went on the become president of the Hell's Angels. Shit, that is not an easy feat. He did a smart thing and had the Hell's Angels name and logo patented under his name in the sixties. If I guess correctly, anyone who dons the name on their jacket will have to pay him some kind of fee, and they have chapters all over the world.

Cheers!

wat a barger! ...

Actually Harley almost went bankrupt in the seventies with the onslaught of the Japanese big four that killed the british motorcycle industry. The only ones buying Harleys then were the US highway cops and American outlaw motorcycle gangs (for image, they wouldn't be caught dead on a Suzuki!). It was Yankee patriotism and custom bike enthusiasts who revived the market for Harley. Recently, two more US brands surfaced, Indian (revived) and Victory. Both are similar to Harleys.

Cheers!

Eh! bro, you are that dude !

No lah.. I never join any Harley riding club before.. Most Sinkie Harley chaps in their 40s, 50s even 60s.. I still young.. I can't see myself wearing those Mat Rocker riding jackets with a long haired Minah as my pillion..

China has a few motorcycle brands, but looks like the country is aiming more at the car market. India is growing in the motorbike market and has a more enthusiastic crowd than China. One of my favourite models, the Yamaha RD350 is still produced and sold in India. It has a cult following there.

Cheers!

I have an old friend who bought himself a Harley Sportster two or three years ago. He just turned sixty. Wears specs for long sightedness. Says he sees fine when looking at the road ahead, but the moment he changes his view to the speedo/tach below, everything goes out of focus. If you see old man with long hair wearing a sleeveless leather jacket out there, it could be him.

Cheers!
