Whenever there are some clips showing asian doing some awesome performances like skateboarding, in line dance performance or spectacular sport showing,

an ang mor , one of them or a few of them commented.. "oh..Asian.."

It seems like they kind of think Asian doing such thing is 2nd graded. or are they simply jealous..


Personally, i think that westerner view Asians, in terms of work, is more of perseverance and rule following than being creative or innovative.. Ang mor tends to look down on Asian's work style as it is graded as 3rd world.. Anything first world has to be linked with creativity and innovation.

I don't think it is referring to 2nd grade work, it is just that there was a lot of stereotyping of the slanty-eyed Chink in the west and when seen doing something that is outside of this stereotypical mold, it might surprise a few westerners, enough to prod some comment - just like we for some time were fascinated by Caucasians speaking Mandarin. By and by, the world is becoming more integrated and we find interweaving and intermingling of different races. Just that the twentieth century started a bit later for Asia and Africa, but it will level up some time in the near future.
