And one is not far from the truth to say that more than 50% of the residents in the island are now foreigners. And if one is to include the new citizens, the original Sinkies are an absolute minority and will soon need affirmative actions to protect their right to live in this island.

Singapore is morphing into a failed state to the Sinkies. It is only a matter of time when the island is fully owned and occupied by foreigners and owning all the great and glittering infrastructure and the island. It is a great economic success, a great infrastructure and architecture wonders for the foreigners and a few elite. The rest of the Sinkies, if they are still around, will be turned into serfs of foreigners. They will lose ownership of their home island. This will be the great and sorrowful transformation of modern Singapore, a transfer of ownership to foreigners with the helpless Sinkies not knowing what is happening.

A "failed state" is one where everyone is leaving. In the case of Singapore, the opposite is happening. Everyone wants a piece of the action which shows that the PAP is doing an excellent job of creating wealth.

Failed for locals but success for FTs

The current PAP leadership is totally different from the vibrant PAP under the old Guards. The old PAP introduced polices to make SG a better place for the locals but the present PAP makes life a struggle for local sinkies who have to compete with FTsh for jobs, public housing, etc but life here is a paradise for FTsh, new citizens, PR, etc. If this trend continues, SG will cease to exist as a country but a huge economic refugee camp for foreigners.

Creating wealth at the expense of making the locals extinct or a minority in their home land.

This is incredulous to say the least !

We definitely have to take a leaf off President Trudeau's policies.:o

Wealth can be gone anytime.

One day when the FTs turned citizens and form their own Political parties PAP will face real challenge and toppled easily. Give and take 2 elections more you will find Pinoy and Ah Nehs form own political parties.

Why/ There are $B of government SWF to be raided. This is just a small island anyway, still an infant country with no strong ruling party but corrupt one anyway.

The opportunities are there for everyone. If the FTs can take better advantage of them, they fully deserve the rewards.

It is up to the locals to rise to the occasion.

Helloo!! I retire Liao!! Up to the next Gen to fight for our rights!!

New immigrants coming from failed states are now helping Singapore to fail as well, and faster.

SG thrives on the basis of non-alignment to any one but friends to one and all. Supposedly, FTsh became citizen and then grabbed power to form Govt. If he is an ah neh and he aligns Sinkie land to India, what would happen? If he is an ah tiong and he aligns sinkie land to China, what would happen? So, the SG Constitution should state clearly that only local born sinkie is permitted to lead the elected Govt, just like the USA where the elected President must be local born citizen.

Wish to add my contribution to this thread.

Singapore had a early headstart to the new industrialized age about four or five decades ago. This has got more to do with her central strategic position. Also, as events of the end of WW2 turned out, she was aligned with the growing powers of the day and started off well with the right relations, and advantage over her neighbours in being English speaking. British laws helped.

To me, the government didn't do much to change the situation, they simply took the baton from the Brits and carried on running with a country made up of immigrants - so no one could claim rights to the land, and there was no trouble, or relative small problems.

Today, well, the rest of the region has caught up in infrastructure development and for many of them, their major social and political problems are behind them, they have improved their educational standards, and are on par with Peesai on manufacturing capability. Our factories have moved over to relocate in other ASEAN nations. And they have a more substantial home market, resources, and land. Singapore is no longer advantaged, but her higher cost is a disadvantage. There is nothing the government can do to change this picture. And they do not want the status of things to change, especially their salaries.

Cheers!

Gahment is trying to change realities on the ground so that there's no way back. We will end up with 7m people, a lot of built up infrastructure and most of our heritage gone.

Singapore's heritage consists of swampland and fishing villages. You want Singapore to return to the dark ages?

No, neither do we want the age where every blade of grass is taken out and we have to build higher and deeper for an increasing population

If you retire liao, then no problem for you. It's your future generations' problem, if they even think it's a problem.
Enjoy the rest of your life. ;)
