Four more to be repatriated for involvement in Little India riot

SINGAPORE: Four more Indian nationals will be repatriated to their home country for their involvement in the Little India riot which took place on December 8.

They are expected to be sent home on Friday night.

The four are among a group of seven previously charged in court, but subsequently had their charges withdrawn.

This brings the total number of those being repatriated as a result of the riot, to 57.

The previous group of 53 slated for repatriation have all been sent back home.

Police said they had full access to consular assistance, and were also seen by the Committee of Inquiry looking into the Little India riot.

With the latest group to be sent home, police said the repatriation operation arising from investigations into the riot will more or less come to an end.

Around 200 people will also be issued with formal police advisories, but will not be repatriated or detained. They are mainly from the marine trade and construction industries.

But because the person who received the warning in this case are foreigners, they're then deemed as undesirable immigrants in our countries. And (the state has powers to) proclaim someone a prohibited immigrant to remove him from the country."

Let me share the other side of the story

If you read the local china forums, there are 101 ways that advices and sharings on methods of exploiting local employers. There is a security bond for china and india workers. Some of them use this as a form of blackmail when they are about to fulfill the two years contract. The ill-intended went on to file a dispute with employer over untrue unpaid OTs and employers are pressured to give-in by mediators or else they will risk losing their $5000 security bond + blacklist for hiring. MOM has plenty of such stories and the mediators naturally side the workers because at the closure of the case, the complainant can write an evaluation form of the service provided by the mediator. OR some jokers ran away and anyhow report ill-treatment hoping to get a free ticket home before their contract ends.............

This is just two examples, we can write another long thread to consolidate all the dirty tricks. No all blue-collar foreign workers are exploited. They are just like girls in rape crimes; people naturally believe that girls are definitely the victims. What if it is really a whore just wanna blackmail some $$$?
