Murder accused preferred sex with his Thai lover over China bride
A man accused of murdering his wife and dissolving her body in acid has pleaded guilty to interfering with her corpse.
A Queensland man accused of murdering his wife and dissolving her body in acid complained about her terrible cooking and dull sex, a friend has told court.
Klaus Andres, 70, is on trial in the Cairns Supreme Court over the alleged murder of his wife, Li Ping Cao, 42, on October 30, 2011, at the couple's Cairns home.
On Monday, the first day of the two-week hearing, Andres admitted he caused his wife's death, bought 60 litres of acid and then dissolved her body in a wheelie bin.
Andres has pleaded guilty to interfering with his wife's corpse, but says her death was an accident.
He says his wife stabbed his hand with a fork during an argument so he pushed her, causing her to fall onto the kitchen floor.
On Tuesday, John Gunner told the court he had met Andres in August 2011 through his wife, who was a mutual friend of Andres' Thai mistress.
Andres himself had met the Thai woman while she was on holiday in Cairns in 2011. His wife was in China at the time.
Crown Prosecutor Nigel Rees asked Mr Gunner whether Andres compared having sex with the Thai woman with intercourse with Li Ping Cao.
"[Andres said] Li Ping would just lie there and he would climb on top of her," Mr Gunner told the court.
"And with [the Thai woman] she would hold him and be warm and affectionate."
Mr Gunner said Andres complained about his wife, saying she was a terrible cook and spent too much time with Chinese people.
He also said Andres told him he wanted the Thai woman to move to Australia.
A number of Andres' neighbours told the court they often heard Li Ping Cao and Andres arguing over money.
The trial has been adjourned until Wednesday.
