SAF troops train in Kanchanaburi in Thailand. I think Kanchanaburi is Thaksin clan's territory.
The only time they go to Bangkok is for R&R or to the airport for the flight back to Singapore.

Yes. Thaksin upset the sakdina system.
Actually he wasn't any more or less corrupt as the next politician....infact IMHO he was actually less corrupt than most....despite thaksin's record time in office....all the digging and false charges by his rivals and all they could only managed to pin on him a land deal done by his wife with questionable points with regards to corruption.
Suthep on the other hand was the one whose corrupt land deals brought down the Chuan government back then.
Thaksin is perhaps the only PM who did anything good for the rural poor....and most importantly gave them a voice and taught them the power of the vote....that's why he is so well loved by them...but in the kingdom no man can be more popular than the one eyed demigod....and that led to his undoing.
