[/h]Just in: Director Anthony Chen has just won the Achievement in Directing award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs) in Brisbane!!
Established in 2007, the APSAs aims to recognise and promote the cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the vast Asia Pacific region, and are the region’s highest accolade in film.
Anthony's fellow nominees for the Achievement in Directing award were:
Emir Baigazin for Uroki Garmonii (Harmony Lessons), Kazakhstan, Germany
Hiner Saleem for My Sweet Pepperland, Iraqi Kurdistan, France, Germany
Hirokazu Kore-eda for Soshite chichi ni naru (Like Father, Like Son), Japan
Shahram Mokri for Mahi Va Gorbeh (Fish and Cat), Islamic Republic of Iran
To be in the running for such a prestigious award among such international talent is an amazing honour, even more so when Anthony's favourite contemporary Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda was nominated in the same category!
Says Anthony, "I've caught an affinity for Brisbane... three weeks ago I was here for the Brisbane International Film Festival and now I'm back again and have won this award... I'd like to thank all the cast and crew who worked on this film, without their amazing performances we wouldn't have this film."
Congratulations Anthony!! You are amazing and we're so proud of you!!
