little rich poor country called singapore

please tell me this is NOT a joke.

Singapore - Begging is illegal here, under the island-nation's Destitute Persons Act, carrying a fine of up to $3,000 or imprisonment for up to two years for repeat offenders.

But Singapore's poor still can be found, often selling packets of tissues outside food centres. Or spending the night on benches near their jobs to save the transport fare home - they are commonly called "sleepers". Or collecting empty soft drink cans out of trash bins.

no money, that's why beg. then to get fined of 3k, is our gahmen crazy or just avaricious and greedy for more money - from the destitute by the way. my god!! really beh tahan!!

so when the gahmen how lian they are helping the poor such as claiming to increase GST to help more poor and needies....well, if u believe, you are confirmed HOODWINKED!!

By fining them, the government removes the incentive to beg and forces them to a get a proper day job.

always a welcome respite from panhandling in the streets as they have food, lodging, medical services provided inside since they can't pay the fines or at least home them in a place for destitutes.

You should try it out in China with beggars everywhere around the corner of the street... And allow me to remind you, beggars in China belongs to a group just like a syndicate. They will go out daily n beg n bring all the collections back to their boss and get an incentive out of it. By understanding this, will you still give money to beggars knowing they are fakes????

I wonder if the beggers in Sinkieland are controlled by syndicate like in Thailand?

Any sensible person wouldn't give money to fake beggars; would you??

In the eyes of Kishore Mahbubani and Lee Kuan Yew, there are no beggars (fake or otherwise) in Singapore.

"There are no homeless, destitute or starving people [in Singapore]…Poverty has been eradicated."
-Kishore Mahbubani, Singapore's permanent representative to the UN

"You go down New York, Broadway. You will see the beggars, people of the streets...Where are the beggars in Singapore? Show me."
-Lee Kuan Yew

There is this very famous beggar clan in China. It is called "gai bang" whose most famous leader was Hong Qigong. His "18 Fists of the Super Dragon" form of martial arts was equalled only by Xi Du, Poison Master of the West.

Precisely no one will give money to fake beggars!!!! And what is your image of a particular country when you visit knowing that those beggars on the street are fake. It doesn't look good on the nation as well.

Just like an old woman selling tissue paper around commonwealth MRT. In order to pursuade people to buy, she'll always say she has cancer and going to have operation in SGH. The very first time i bought from her out of pity but subsequently knowing she kept using this as excuse, i stopped...

Yes, I do have my encounter with fake beggars. Does that means that all beggars are fake?

I still give to beggars when I encounter them albeit with a cautious approach. So, does a nation looks good when it is "sparking clean" of beggars?

Ain't you contradicting yourself when you ask me in your earlier post that any sensible person wouldn't give money to fake beggars n i agree with u n now you're saying that does that mean that all beggars are fake....

Please read with your eyes open that i didn't claimed that all beggars are fake but those in China. If you're damn rich enough to give, i deem those beggars in China would be more than happy to receive from you.

A nation definitely looks better without beggars than with beggars. Do you want a beggar to squad everyday at your doorstep???

please give with a wise compassion, i.e, compassion coupled with wisdom and NOT dummy compassion which is anyhow give and think we are doing a kind deed.

the gahmen always hypocritically giving the nation angpows. they time it very strategically especially when close at GE period. the crux of the matter is by giving the people angpows, they thought they are compassionate and generous. this is an example of DUMMY COMPASSION which is always displayed by our hypocrite gahmen.

they could reduce the cost of living like rentals, tax exempt certain vital items and etc but they don't. the reason is obvious: they wanna create hardship for the people and then shrewdly give angpows to make them look generous and kind.

if we were to think deeper, we would realise that all these suffering elements were actually originated by the gahmen and hey don't make it an effort to eradicate, lower or alleviate the causes. in fact, they usually exacerbate and aggravate the causal factors and thus, the people was suffocated with the artificial rising of costs of living.

do not be fooled by our sadistic gahmen.

VOTE THEM OUT IN 2016!! don't forget!
