I was having my brunch at Ghim Moh market. Ordered my food and sat down. there was a little gal who is the hawker's daughter at the same table.

Next table, there were a family - parents and 2 little gals. The 2 gals were playing and spoke in well mannered English. Presumably they were from the upper class from the private estate around Ghim Moh market.

The hawkers' daughter was enviously staring at the 2 elite little gals. You could see the jealous eyes and if one could read from those eyes, you can see the words Hatred, Bitch and so on.

The income gap has indeed widen even amongst little kids....:(

What makes u so sure hawkers are poor? i have seen hawkers own BMWs and Mercs and live in private property, they are in a cash business and their biz is practically recession proof,,,they might not act atas and high crass like pappies, but in terms of wealth they are even better off than many PMETS.

i dun think is about money amount, it is about class..either you have it or you dun.

End of the day, its personal upbringing and character. I have seen rich people behave terribly at some event.

My favorite noodle hawker at Changi Village drives a Merc and prob lives in private prop but her stall in market just like everyone else.
