According to EF EPF (Education First English Proficiency Index) 2013 report, Malaysians have the highest English proficiency score in Asia, at 58.99

Sinkieland ranks second at 58.92 (The report is available for download from http://www.ef.com/epi/downloads/

What happened? How come our Education Ministar did not do his job?

Below are the possible reasons for Sinkie's poor performance:

1. Complacency - Just because the constitution of LEEgime states that Engrish is one of the official languages does not mean Sinkies are good at it. Just because Old Fart and Pinky keep telling potential foreign investors that Sinkieland uses Engrish does not mean every Sinkie can speak good Engrish

2. Population increase leads to decline of Engrish proficiency. 99.9% of naturalized Sinkies are not from native Engrish speaking countries. Most of them are Ah Tiongs, Ah Nehs, Banglas, Pinoys, Ang Moh Kias who can't even string a sentence in good Engrish

3. Big Eyes Heng and his civil serpents employ teachers from Ah Neh country to teach "Engrish" in Sinkie schools. Sinkie students, in addition to speaking Singlish natively, have to cope with Hingrish spoken by Ah Neh teachers. This is DESI bad. (Note: "desi" is Hingrish for "really"). No wonder when our Sinkie students pass out from college, their Engrish is a mixture of Singlish and Hingrish. (Note: "pass out" is Hingrish for "graduate". In standard Engrish, "pass out" means "faint")

4. Princelings and children of the elite ruling LEEgime all go abroad to study. They know that the standard of Engrish used in Sinkieland is DESI poor.

why leh? beaten by malaysia and your sinkie ego cannot take it, is it?

I believe the report is true. This is because sinkie standard dragged down by immigrants.
These immigrant kids never even learn abc in their homeland and how can they pick up english when migrated to singapore?

Unsure how this index can stand up. EF's index been criticised for being statistically invalid -uncomprehensive sampling, biased online.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EF_English_Proficiency_Index

Runs across the (well known) grain in Msia, with 23% of 103,000 students failing english and 70% teachers "unfit" to teach. Oh well, surveys can be biased too (like most mankind)

Malaysia also got immigrants...

so is it to say that Malaysia knows how to choose quality immigrants than sinkies?

i am quite sure gov is not to blame for english. it is the parent to be blame. especially parent with opposition background, mostly hokkien, speak hokkien at home, sing hokkien song in karaoke, watch the hundreds of episode of taiwan tv series, then they go to forum and blame pap gov.

Yao Siu Kia, why you blame your parent?

my england very good, just dun bother to write in England on informal forum. you must be real dumb not to know that.

Something wrong with the ranking, the Malaysian English standard is definitely lower than Singapore. In Johore, many people can't speak English and I am talking about those in their 20s, 30s and 40s, who studied Malay as first language. On the contrary, the older ones from KL in their 50s and 60s can speak very good English, as they studied in the old system of English as first language.

Back then school lessons ( except Malay lesson ) were taught in English.. The local teachers then were the product of the British Colonial education system..

The BN Govt during that time gave a time scale.. They decided that History, Maths, Science, Geography lessons were to be conducted in English during the early years of Independent.. And in the late 60s, early 70s all these subjects were then taught in Bahasa Melayu..

The government is definitely to be blame. English is the working language but it is not enforced. Instead the PAP government kowtows to the Ah Tiongs.

hokkien is a dying lanuage in sinkland and taiwanese serials are in mandarin nigger.

Indeed, the dialects, hokkien, teochew, Hakka, Cantonese etc, died an unnatural death in the country ages ago that I actually improved speaking mandarin, hokkien and Cantonese when I'm in an ang moh country, Australia.
