Who really believes that the Google store is ahead of the Apple app store If you look at the number of available appls, you will find more apps available for the iPad.

The Nexus 7 is the newer machine introduced a few months ago. Apple's new iPad will be available in Nov & it will be interesting to see what CNET has to say about it

Personally I use many SW products that are free on my Mac & PC e.g Open office, firefox, CCleaner, ... Even my anti-vrus SW is free.
The music I listen to are all ripped from my own CD collection. If I want to add a song I don't already own I would just buy the CD & then rip it.

When I get my iPad I will get handful of games. Iworks should be enough for my needs. Maybe I'll consider getting a spreadsheet program like numbers?

From what I've read it makes good business sense for developers to give priority to the Apple platform because Apple customers spend more then their android counterparts. If an android only app becomes popular I expect the developer to port it to the IOS platform because of the $ in the IOS world.

The iOS App Store now has more than a million applications available, Apple announced on Tuesday. And the recently launched iTunes Radio has already hit more than 20 million users.


Those 20 million iTunes Radio listeners have streamed over a billion songs to date, Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook revealed. iTunes Radio launched in late September as part of iOS 7, and is also available through iTunes.

And with over a million options on the iOS App Store, users have now downloaded more than 60 billion applications to date, Cook said.

Those downloads have now paid out over $13 billion to iOS developers, the CEO revealed.

The iOS App Store now has over one million apps available, and Cook said users have logged over 60 billion downloads. That's up from 900,000 and 50 billion downloads announced during WWDC earlier this year.

The iOS App Store now has more than a million applications available, Apple announced on Tuesday. And the recently launched iTunes Radio has already hit more than 20 million users.

Android's Google Play beats App Store with over 1 million apps, now officially largest

Android's Google Play store has just officially reached over 1 million apps and it is now finally outgrown the Apple App Store and its 900 000 applications. That's a huge achievement for Android, the platform that launched as the underdog, after Apple first started the app revolution.

Now, the tide has clearly changed. Google has made great advances in paying its developers more and they are now receiving 2.5x the money.

App downloads have also grown to over 50 billion. Amazing growth and it seems to only be accelerating, don't you think?

The new nexus 7 has the way of dealing with fragmentation already. it has been shown on one of the video posted which is the main google presentation. He did explain on that.

People are dynamic and improve on shortfalls (unlike sinkies).. step by step andriod will overtake Apple. hehehehe.

user experience can be improved overtime.. the andriod experience has been improving over the years.. it just start off with the number of apps to be the largest now..there will be more in times to come and eventually everything will be the best about andriod.

Got a laggy old Nexus 7? Here’s why Android 4.3 will restore its performance.


Don’t upgrade from an old Nexus 7 to a new one just yet; at least not if your reason for upgrading is because your current tablet has been getting slower over time. Try the Android 4.3 software update first, which is now in the process of rolling out to Nexus devices. It turns out there’s a simple reason why the performance of some of the 2012 Nexus 7 tablets degraded and it can be fixed through software.

Brian Klug of AnandTech confirmed the fix, which is the inclusion and regular scheduling of a specific software command in Android 4.3. The command helps manage and optimize the tablet’s flash memory.

“In our Nexus 7 (2013) review, I talked about how I had confirmed that Android 4.3 onboard the device had enabled support for fstrim, an application which TRIMs blocks not in used by the filesystem. TRIM is essentially the paging channel through which the OS tells an SSD or eMMC controller that a block is no longer in use, and thus ready for garbage collection. This is critical for maintaining performance on the controllers in use across smartphones and tablets and preventing aging-related I/O performance slowdown.”

By invoking the TRIM command on a regular basis, the flash memory inside the Nexus 7 is optimized for input and output. Think of it like the old Disk Defragmenter on Microsoft Windows PCs which cleaned up the file system and put contiguous file bits in order on the hard drive to speed up I/O performance. TRIM isn’t quite the same but the concept is similar.



Klug says the TRIM command is automatically invoked every 24 hours or so on the Nexus 7 with Android 4.3. It happens when the device is active but not used for an hour during one day’s time and has either 80 percent battery life or is being charged and has at least 30 percent battery life. The maintenance is automatic then, so there’s no user action required.

While this won’t make an old Nexus 7 faster than a new model — this year’s Nexus 7 has double the memory and a faster chip — it should help restore performance in cases where the tablet was slowing down over time. I’ve already read a number of reports online where owners of the 2012 edition are enjoying a faster experience so if you have the old tablet, I’d recommend upgrading to Android 4.3.

The main problem with android is that you have an OS made by one company & the hardware by other companies like Asus & Samsung. We have already seen this kind of model in the PC world i.e. Microsoft. The problem with this kind of model is when you have a "problem" who do you approach MS or the hardware company It's very common for each of the parties to blame the problem on each other.


Same question for android customers. Google is giving away the OS away to hardware companies e.g. Asus, Samsung. So who takes ownership when customer have "problems" If you are IT savy you can hunt for a solution & maybe you will find a solution .

If have a problem with an Apple product you only have to contact Apple. If you need any SW updates, apps,..go to Apple.
This is the Apple ecosystem.
