SINGAPORE: The National Environment Agency (NEA) has declared the Orchard Road area a red zone for dengue.

Eighteen cases have been reported in the area.

The zone includes popular hangouts like the Scape Skate Park, Triple One Somerset and 313 Somerset.

Any area with more than 10 dengue cases is considered high risk.

Since the start of the year, 18,212 dengue cases have been reported in Singapore.

Dengue is a self inflicted disease. If Singaporeans were more careful, mosquito breeding would not be possible and the problem would go away immediately.

To grow the economy and manage the finances. We don't need ministers to go around checking for mosquito larvae.

There is nothing wrong with Brompton bikes. They are the best. So too a Herman Miller chairs.

The government makes great sacrifices to ensure that the country is well run. We should not be penny wise pound foolish when it comes to investing in the tools needed to do a good job.
