was reading this article and was appalled at the monstrosity of the act performed by the relief teacher, as well as the punishment that was mete out.

victim was allegedly 13 at the time of the incident, clearly marked this case as statutory rape. looking at the Penal Code (Chapter 224), Section 376A, subsections 3 and 4, this former relief teacher should be given at least 12 strokes of the cane and be sitting behind bars for at least 8 years.

he must be damn lucky to be away from the society for 27 months only.

nope, sounds like he had a good lawyer who was much better than the DPP.
