Since he admitted to his illogical statements, what he says anywhere else, like LKYSPP, could and would become illogical at some point, and needs to be retracted later. It is strange that so many "opposition people" took Ngiam so seriously after all.

When someone brought my attention on what he said about FT policy, I was actually quite pissed off with him. He was one of the key civil servant who made liberal FT policy into norm and yet, has the cheek to justify it by using circular argument. He was saying that the hospital he was admitted, has overwhelming number of foreign workers and wonder how this hospital could function if we do not allow FT into Singapore. He even criticized opposition members and politicians who criticize his very FT policy as pseudo-economist, pseudo-politician etc!

It was PAP and top civil servants like Ngiam who have opened the flood gate to foreigners, suppressing wages, displacing Singaporeans' jobs and make us ended up with over-dependence on foreign workers in various sectors. Yet, he has the cheek to use such over-dependence as a circular argument to justify the need of liberal FT policy! It makes me boil when I read what he has said about this.

Opposition supporters and people should not be blinded by such people like Ngiam just because he just made some subtle criticisms of PAP government now. He is after all, one of the main culprit who have made Singaporeans suffered under such ultra-capitalist FT policy.

these are the worst hypocrites and backstabbers. they enjoyed power, wealth and screwing everyone else while behaving like a lapdog in their prime. and at their retirement with their childrens' future secured, they wanted to win sympathy and nods from folks they screwed for so long. in other words, they wished to go to their sunset loved, adored and respected by all. the retired dogs are starting to bark now for their posterity. it's a very narcissistic and selfish way of promoting themselves. there's a member here who fits that profile to the tee.
