SINGAPORE - Two female youths, aged 17 and 18 were arrested in connection with a case of theft in a Jurong East shopping mall.

On Oct 7 at around 12.08pm, police were informed that cash amounting to $593 were stolen from a cash register in one of the mall's shops.

They managed to establish the identity of the suspects through follow-up investigations and CCTV footages.

The duo were arrested on Oct 10 and one of them will be charged in court on Oct 12. Investigations against the other suspect are ongoing.

The punishment for theft carries a maximum jail term of three years, a fine or both.
