SINGAPORE - The Energy Market Authority (EMA) is revising the formula for the electricity tariff to make it less volatile and more reflective of prevailing market conditions.

Senior Minister of Trade and Industry, S Iswaran told Parliament on Monday that EMA intends to use the fuel oil price data over a three month period to set the tariff, instead of the current practice of using only one month's price data.
An advantage with the revised formula is that the tariff would be less volatile and more reflective of the prevailing fuel market conditions because more recent price data would be used in the tariff computation.
EMA plans to implement this change for the determination of the tariff in the 3rd quarter of 2009, after consulting key stakeholders and industry players.

Stop acting blur, Jan electricity is still base on Oct oil price which is $96+-

Coming April we should be looking at another huge decrease because it should be around $35+-

If they are really doing it for the good of the public, revise it after the big reduction in April.

That 3 month thing might be ok, but I dont buy the forward contract thing.
