There is a reason why I chose to lead my life a little different from most Singaporeans. When pple come to know I don't have a 9-5 job they always ask me why I am not working. I will tell them I have been there ..done that... here is nothing more meanless to me than to be low income worker in Singapore...that was what I was for a few years after I was rejected from university and had to work in the fast food sector as I had only A level cert. Its a hand to mouth, long hours, struggle day after day type of living....you live to work because your low salary means you cannot stop work ...if you do, you will go hungry and for those married even worse, your are trapped n this endless loop of debt and insufficiency that goes on infinitum until you die...try Tharman`s $1000 salary can raise family and buy HDB formula, you might as well call it slavery...and the minister who makes $7000 a day dares to suggest.

Here comes Aung San from 3rd world country Myanmar, our leaders hosted her to impress her with the fantastic facade of material/GDP such success ..dazzling wealth that hid the poverty beneath. But Aung San ' the. Nobel Prize Winner saw through the facade and was unimpressed....when repo
rters asked her what she thought of Singapore, She spoke honestly.

Her country, she said, would not want copy the city’s materialistic and high pressure living that had come with its affluence.Upon being briefed that Singapore’s education system was “workforce-oriented”, Suu Kyi, 68, said: “That made me think, what is work all about? What are human beings for? What are human lives about?”.

TThere is so much wisdom in her words for all of us.

What is a human life for? To drive pap`s economic engine?
Are humans just there to be materialistic and provide demand for the economy?

For the pap a worker is just an automaton to feed the economy, if the local robot cannot do the job just dump him and replace with a foreign one. If he is unhappy and don't obey just use harsh laws and punishment to control him.

The pap rule looks wildly successful on the outside but has destroyed all the morality and humanity needed to sustain a society. In other words, the pap build a society without a moral purpose except to
chase after the last dollar, such a society which is essentially empty inside will collapse onwards and destroy itself.

There is no deep wisdom in LKY`s thoughts because he never understood the real meaning of being human and that is why his system is running into so many problems.

Below is a story that illustrates the failings of pap material approach that lack a meaningful purpose in the lives of the people.

A banker who was a hard nosed businessman was vacationing in a small coastal village. While walking near a pier he saw a small boat with just one fisherman. Inside the boat with the fisherman were several yellow-fin tuna. The businessman complimented the fisherman on the quality of his catch and asked how long it took to catch them.
“Only a little while,” he replied.
The businessman then asked why he didn’t stay out longer and catch more fish.
The fisherman said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs.
“But what do you do with the rest of your time?” the banker asked.
The fisherman responded, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a nap in the afternoon, and stroll into the village each evening with my wife where we relax and sing and I play guitar with our friends. I have a full and busy life.”
The businessman scoffed, “You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat and with the proceeds buy a fleet of boats. Instead of selling your fish to a middleman, you could sell directly to a processor. You could eventually open your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You could leave this small village and move to a big city where you could run your expanding enterprise.”
The fisherman asked, “But how long will this take?”
The businessman replied, “15 to 20 years!”
“But then what?” asked the puzzled fisherman.
The banker laughed and said, “That’s the best part. You can sell your business and retire and move to a small coastal fishing village where you could sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take afternoon naps, stroll to the village in the evenings with your wife where you could relax, sing and play guitar with your friends. You would have a full and busy life.
The fisherman smiled at the businessman, quietly gathered his catch and walked away.

Lesson is don't live by another man's system and hard truths...you might be wasting your life away on the wrong values and purpose in life.
