Sub to company in India.........sub con;););)$;);)...................India company send staff here on project basis with allowances...........rotate staff so each one less than 180days......blah blah blah..........:D

Indeian IT students are specialized in their academic training in their Unis, tagged to popular products already out in the market. So click and go,...or recruit and send to sinkieland.

Above is only one method, I just guess only...without any basis:(

Because the IT directors of all the major financial firms and their subcontractors are indians? Singapore has a FTA with India, which allows them to work here?

Haha, I don't make the rules here, my boss (the GM) does. However the pay wasn't determined yet when the advert for the position was out, we just did not receive ANY Sg applicants and someone was needed to unload the pile from my subordinate.

As it is turning out, the PRC girl is coping well and picking up the ropes, no car, she calls for taxi and submits her transport claims. Able to converse rather well in English (not Singlish) with the customers and I quite admire her zeal and interest in our trade. I don't find anything to fault her by and hope she stays.

Cheers!

Friend, why so desperate to accept lowballed pay in the first place? How much has your parents and yourself put in to get you to college and get a good education? Why allow yourself to be exploited?

In your case, the PRC from local uni should be good.

I salute FT.....your Singlish better than mine:(

Fren, allow me to comment on this issue.

I am a "foreigner" working in Singapore as a sales manager. My employers have been advertising for a local sales engineer, no experience needed, but requires access to vehicle, this has been changed. My assistant's preference is some Hokkien or local dialect ability, I am open. Over the last six months, we have NOT received ANY Singaporean applicants. ..................... Try working around this.

Cheers!

Lots from India, Myanmar, PRC (graduated from local uni), Malaysia, and Philippines. But NO Singaporean applicants and I couldn't select any from the range we received. My boss, sick and tired of our undecided state of affairs put his foot down and selected a PRC applicant who was employed and into her second month now. That is the situation on the ground. We had to hire a foreigner because there were NO local candidates. Maybe we're paying too low, but again, there are people with the qualifications willing to accept the terms. Try working around this.

Cheers!

The dumbfuck opposition supporting retards in here doesn't realize that MOST locals already HAVE jobs. The government was no lying when they tell you 2% unemployment. Between that 2% unemployed, they are usually not qualified, not suitable, unemployable or simply not interested.

"Locals"...........simi is "locals" ????

Usually one liners from u but today u so cheong hei.

It's true that there are plenty of jobs and job opportunities here, and those who are unemployed are likely that they are comfortable not to work, or aren't interested in what they can get. I have a friend (same age) who doesn't want to work because he did not upgrade himself all these years and can afford to spend his time keeping fit by jogging and cycling everyday! His wife has a good job though. A quick look at the jobs section in ST on Saturdays is a good indication of available jobs. A whole section of jobs! In contrast, the job section in the Toronto Star when I was there pales, just two or three sheets for the whole city. For the youngsters here, there are plenty of opportunities if the have at least a diploma and two or three years work experience. And all the jobs are available in one compact city, one doesn't need to relocate or move residence when switching jobs unlike in big countries.

Cheers!

Saw hiring own “kakis” after she became SMRT CEO

Seems like Temasek Review is back from the grave.

http://www.tremeritus.com/2011/12/20...ecame-smrt-ceo

I would like to bring attention to TRE on the personnel movement of SMRT after CEO Saw Phaik Hwa was brought in. This will shed light on the operational problems faced by SMRT today.

Since these are operational problems, let us start with the Chief Operating Officer.

Yeo Meng Hin is the Chief Operating Officer from 2007 to 2011. From SMRT Annual Report 2010, he was paid SGD970,272 second only to Saw Phaik Hwa who exceeded the million-dollar band. Are we paying for relevant experience?

Before becoming COO, his training ground was in the HR department. Is this considered relevant experience? His education was a Bachelor of Arts (Economics). Is this considered relevant education? How did this person with irrelevant experience become the Chief Operating Officer of SMRT? This one tells it all. He was from DFS, same company as Saw Phaik Hwa. How dare she uses SMRT as a platform to play political games? Now, Singaporeans are paying for this.

Now, from the grapevine (needs more confirmation):

http://forum.channelnewsasia.com/sh...trenched-by-DFS-before-she-joined-SMRT!/page5

Yeo Meng Hin replaced an IT director with 20 years of experience with his friend from Maybank who was just a Malaysian IT team lead at the bank. This led to massive chaos as the malaysian IT guy wanted to cut cost for everything to the point of cutting half of all the lighting in the IT department. He even insisted anyone who use the toilet must switchoff the light after use leading to embarrassing incident of people stuck in darkness in the loo!

Is Yeo Meng Hin a Malaysian PR? Is this a case of FT-hiring-FT discriminations which Singaporeans have been complaining about? All started with some Singaporean director sitting on the board hiring a Malaysian FT as CEO. Then, CEO hires her own people (also FT) to replace experienced Singaporeans to widen her political base.

I would like the committee of inquiry to investigate the following;

1. How many experienced Singaporean SMRT with operational experience were replaced by people related to Saw Phaik Hwa with irrelevant background or less qualified experience? Political games take place everywhere in large organizations. But when this affects millions of Singaporeans and something as vital as transport, it must be investigated.

2. Is this a case of FT-hiring-FT, FT-replacing-Singaporeans discriminatory practice? I don’t mind Singaporeans being replaced by FT as long as the FT is more qualified. Actually, I am not even sure Yeo Meng Hin is Singaporean citizen. But regardless of whether Yeo Meng Hin is PR or new citizen or citizen who has done NS, this case highlights what happens when the top management is replaced by foreigners. Like all humans, they tend to hire their own people regardless of whether they are good for the company or not. Self-interest always come first.

3. Please justify the past appointments of people who occupied vital operational positions with no operational experience. If the people who were replaced had more relevant experience, please elaborate so that the public knows it is not for political reasons like broadening one’s political support base.

If you are unemployable or not interested, you will be taken out of this total figure. So don't make things up here.

Unemployed persons are defined as those who report that they are without work, that they are available for work and that they have taken active steps to find work in the last four weeks. The ILO Guidelines specify what actions count as active steps to find work; these include answering vacancy notices, visiting factories, construction sites and other places of work, and placing advertisements in the press as well as registering with labour offices.

This benchmark is used by most governments incl. Singapore.

the purpose is to raise gdp and turn them to new citizen (to be PAP voters)...they dun care if sinkies got work or not.

From my personal experience, this was 1996, when I was working part time for a while.....it was not that easy back then to find some simple part time work, what I call honest day pay. I tried certain business parks...it was filled with 'pundeks' whose wives are working part time or over ran with pinoys & whatever job, one can get the pay is so low...like $8/hr. A ex colleague of mine, was 'muscled' out of his job by a PUNDEK!. He was the unit manager with around 300 staff under him, they brought in a PUNDEK & replaced him & removed him from that job. Thereafter..the Pundek replaces most of the unit, with relatives from his home 'villages'.

You think, this is a story...those formulating policies, have not had their noses rubbed to the ground, like many SINgaporeans. What is happening today, is not new..had been around for decades..only now, you see the 'dead bodies' floating to the surface.

Only those "members' have their jobs secured...like making a big boo boo of security, budget over ran 3 times, 'pond' the shopping belt & still get paid....the best part is, those whose noses are being rubbed against the ground...are paying for these people.

So who did you.........??

Wanted Indian fugitive could even get a work permit in Singapore.

(19 Feb) – Sreenesh Thaikkodathil Sreedharan, wanted for the murder of a trader, flew to Tiruchy airport from Singapore to escape notice. He even chucked his passport into a toilet dustbin aboard, but city police were ready and waiting

The Air India Express flight from Singapore touched Tiruchirappalli Airport on Friday and Sreenesh Thaikkodathil Sreedharan, wanted in a murder case, thought freedom was a walk out of the airport. He chucked his passport (G2803624) in a toilet bin aboard the aircraft so that there wouldn’t be a whiff of his identity. However, he hadn’t bargained for a wily Bangalore police lying in wait for him and walked right into their trap a la a Hollywood crime thriller.

Wanted for the cold-blooded murder of a cosmetics trader at Hotel Pai Viceroy on J C Road (see box), 30-year-old Sreedharan, a native of Calicut, had fled to Malaysia before settling down in Singapore. However, he soon ran into trouble in Singapore for overstaying on a tourist visa. But, he produced a work permit and sought the court’s permission to stay on. The court asked him to go back to India and return on the work visa.

Bangalore police, meanwhile, wasn’t exactly napping on the job. They had managed to track down his girlfriend, a call centre employee working in Whitefield. They put her under surveillance and learnt about the visa problem. They took his girlfriend into confidence and when he told her that he did not have money to buy an air ticket, police arranged a ticket for him and mailed it through her.

To escape from a lookout circular issued against him, Sreedharan insisted on landing at the lesser known Tiruchirappalli airport in Tamil Nadu, confident that he could give authorities the slip. However, police was not letting him escape this time. Unknown to him, they sent a person to Singapore to fly back with him on the same aircraft without his knowledge. And a team of police officers waited for him at the airport.
