The current FT policy benefits anyone who wants to take full advantage of the availability of a workforce with good skills who don't expect outrageously high salaries.

how about hiring FT to be Singapore MP and ministers if they dont expect outrageously high salaries? do you think it is workable?

One of the prerequisites of being an MP is that you have to be citizen of the country you are serving.

Foreigners first have to become citizens before they can enter Parliament.

When it comes to NS, Singaporeans are the cheapest by a country mile.

Good mercenaries are very expensive. What sinkies lack in brains and ability they make up for by their willingness to take orders and their inability to figure out that they're being taken for a ride.

Back to the topic, I recently had a conversation with a friend that is still working back home. He was lamenting on how much stress management has placed on the group etc, and how every managers has a "MBA" and doesn't know an iota of technical work. I told him over here, our managers have no MBAs, just have Patents. He was shocked by the reply. Is it still the case in Singapore that most of these managers are MBAs and have no clues to what the actual work required does? Mind you, this is IT related of course.

But MBA is a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

It has nothing to do with IT or any technical field.

Why you are trying to clusterfuck the 2 is beyond me.

Shouldn't you be asking about a Masters in Engineering or something like that instead?

MPs are the cream of the crop. They therefore command top dollar. Only a few foreigners are skilled enough to step into their shoes eg $8 Khaw. If you try and get a cheap government, you'll end up with Singapore being no better than Malaysia or Indonesia when it comes to governance.

On the other hand the majority of Singaporeans aren't doing jobs that require a high degree of skill. They do not deserve to earn above market wage for the region. If their wages are artificially inflated for political reasons, the economy will end up worse not better.

If you don't even know the basic, rudimentary engineering principle of your own products, do you think you'll understand how it works in the first place? Do you think you'll appreciate how long certain things has to be engineered before it can be used in production? Do you think you'll have a clear understanding of a reasonable development cycle? Perhaps you should think outside the box a little more before saying they can't be lumped together.

maybe now is the times to do reverse migration into asean country. Sinkies with expertise working in other asean countries with their cheaper standard of living should be an option for all.

This is just a bold extension of the PAP's replace sinkees with cheap foreigner policy.
