We must exercise Prudence!!!

The Government must exercise prudence even as it pledges to take better care of Singaporeans in terms of providing housing, education and health care, said Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen.

This will help Singapore avoid ending up like some countries in Europe, which now "have huge debts and problems", he said.

Dr Ng was reassuring those who have questioned how the country is going to foot the bills for policy changes announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his National Day Rally speech last month.

"I believe that the way to go is to make sure that the economy is doing well and there are jobs," said Dr Ng, who was speaking at the Toa Payoh Central Mid-Autumn Festival at Toa Payoh Town Park last night.

Yah I agree with the Minister. We must exercise prudence in everything. It is unwise to adopt popular policies that will ultimately lead to a "welfare state" which will end in some financial problems for our country. We must have pragmatism,prudence and good management to sustain our economic growth and also our population growth. This is the way to go for Singapore.

Expenditure on low taxes for corporations and higher income bracket.

Let's not forget those who are poor and disabled always have prdudence forced upon them...I know many fathers who cannot afford to send their children for medical treatment because they are too poor.

A minister who is the highest paid minister in the world for the same type of work talks about prudence we should look at the biggest picture of prudence possible.
Minister Ng is the minister for a ministry that spends more than double what it needs to spend to achieve a credible and solid deterrence - plse start cleaning your own house!
