Sometimes listening to our leaders.can be
very painful....at times they implicitly say Singaporeans
are not good enough ...other times they take to blaming Singapireans for the problems in the country.
Lately the tone has been less condescending hiwever the trust deficit
has expanded.
If you trace it back, much of it is due.to.the.logic of.one man and the
constant narrative that leadership is the prime reason
for.our success forgetting the mass of workers who toiled
to build singapore. Quality leadershipnis.defined by award of
scholarshup and navigate through an interlinked business-power structure
consisting of the civil service, GLCs, SAF and NTUC. They call this
a meritocratic system but it is not true ...it is.an.elitist syatem.that narrows down pple
awarding select pple with opportunity and reward for supporting the system and ability to navigate upwards. In
recent years we see SAF generals put in charge of transport companies, running GLCs and.put into various.govt link companies and the govt itself. Why? Elitism has a way of reinforcing itself
a selected elite ability to climb gets his opportunities at Harvard Managment School reinforced his credentials
and gets assigned more opportunities....and for.ordinary citizens
the PAP would rather give a place and scholarship foreigners than to
his child.
A leadership that tries to set itself apart from the
people will separate from the people.
True is this....the people will learn to pick leaders
whose first priority is to safeguard their interests and not
that of Singapore Inc. Lee Li lian who was an N Level took the fight to the PAP
by challenging the very basis of what PAP thinks qualify as a good MP
..she shows. that there is only one criteria that matters and that is how.much you care for the people to fight for their interests. They type of.pple.PAP chooses based on their elitist system and ability to
climb their structure must have put their own interest above everything else to be able to climb
the power structure. That is why we see so much.acceptance and compliance to
to the top.PAP leadership because their own advancement is at stake.
The opposition on the other hand has to risk everything to safeguard
the interest of the people....this.is the stronger moral footing that the people stand on to challenge the PAP
They more the PAP run this.system the more closed up they are....we can tell from the number.of generals they take from the SAF ...meaning the self reinforcing effects of.elitism is taking hold
...while those who dislike the PAP don't mind seeing it go downhill we must be mindful of the risk to our beloved country singapore
