this week, monday confirmed, my Kiwi neighbor on sixth floor, kenna dengue fever.

yesterday, at another unit on the same street, someone else , confirmed kenna dengue.

i wrote to NEA on 29 aug, after i heard about the case in my building, and have yet to get a reply...

these 2 cases happened on Somme Road.
this brings the total number of dengue cases on Somme Road itself this year to 6 (SIX)

seriously, how serious are these govt agencies in doing their job properly?

ive been writing to NEA for a few months now re the construction site next door, and how after they started work, they stuffed up the surrounding drains..

now our drains are PERPETUALLY wet, even if we get a few days of sunshine.

before construction work started, drains are dry if no rain for a few days,

NEA officers have come but CANNOT seem to find what the blockage is..

i suspect not looking very hard at all, and not coming down hard on the construction site at all.... always just have a "talk" with the site supervisor, ask them to sweep their drain... that's it

BTW, when they sweep their drain, then where the hell does the muck go? very obviously onto their neighbor's drain , right?

FOO_king stupid

with construction going on everywhere from the heartlands to the rich lands, there are many pockets of stagnant water that encourage mosquitoes breeding....

on top of these, you look at the plastic bags and garbages all over your place. they are ideal spots for mosquitoes breeding....

and look at our weather these few weeks: very hot, very humid and then sudden downpours and ponding....

and all our efforts of being a clean and green city with so much greenery and trees....many drains are blocked;many gutters are blocked;many places are dirty; and you see many ideal spots for mosquitoes breeding....

and look at the crowds, the congestion and the movements of people...packed everywhere....more people, more congestion and more likelihood to spread because of close contact.....and also look at some of our food centres: packed like sardines....cleanliness is compromised....look at the black crows eating from the tables!!!!....

look at the stress level...the lowering of our general immunity...

there are multiple factors > the dengue scourge < the NEA cannot control everything...FINE FINE FINE...we have to look at the bigger picture: the demography and the general immunity.....

more cases to come....

in this case, NEA not even fining anyone.....
like SOOOOOOO afraid to come down hard on construction sites, because it would cause the contractors money.... as if they have been told to not hassle them

every time the officers have been here, im told they just ask the guys to sweep the drain, pour chemicals, and speak to site supervisor

in my last email to them i said since the drains perpetually wet, does it mean we keep pouring chemicals into the drains for an eternity?

i met with a few of those guys working under NEA
they are really tough workers and they just could not cope
one letter from one condo, they will have to cover every house-hold
and mosquitoes breeding are often found in flower pots and small garden plots
it's not an easy job at all.....i think almost insurmountable...

true, most of them are generally very good,

so i wonder why construction sites and contractors seem to "protected"

same construction site was apparently fined $5000 for working on Sunday, which they are not allowed to do....
they do NOT do anything on sunday / public holiday nowadays after that....

maybe mosquitoes breeding is more common in homes....
that's why they work hard on housing units and homes...

dengue is dangerous
it can be fatal
so this is no small matter
better be careful and protect yourself
it can hit anyone - quite suddenly and tragically

"good or bad?" - hmmmmm your MP will tell you depending how you look, could be half filled or half empty. Wendy forget about them la, buy OFF spray and mosquito nets. MPs never encounter this problem he will not be able to help nevermind but like to kong-L-J-wei no need to waste time.

my thoughts exactly....

I know a couple of nightlife gals who stay in that area. They work at joints near Jalan Besar. One of them told me quite a number kena dengue and some even died. Not sure if second part is true. Don't recall it being reported.

Whats vivian balakrishnan's current score? Has it reached 14000 cases yet or gone past liao??
