What I saw this National Day at McDonalds ....

I went to McDonalds today because I had a craving for hotcakes.

As I was digging in, I saw an old man in his 70s looking through the glass window at the people having breakfast. He tried to looked like he was waiting for someone but I noticed he kept looking inside at the people eating.
At some point I wondered what he was up or qwas he one of those mad people was see once in a while behaving strangely. I soon got my answer.

As soon as a family finished eating at left, the old man walked in unnoticed to take over their empty coffee cups. I saw him filling it up later on from the pot.

I couldn't tell if he was too poor to afford one cup of coffee or whether he does this everyday or only on public holidays. All I know is he is despeeate enough tomlower himself for a cup of coffee.....why? I don't really
know pple take all sorts of twists and turns in life sometimes misfortune to reach whatever state they are in.

As the population ages, the govt spends too little to ensure well being of our elderly they prefer to spend it on infrastructure to accomodate more foreigners and defense to project more military power. More Singaporeans will not only grow old but in their old age they have to lower themselves to survive because the pap fails to accommodate them as they are no longer economically active.

These were my thoughts on national day ...the more national days we live through the closerr we get to the way we will be treated as elderlies by the system ...our medishield premiums escalate repidly for every year we live as seniors until it hits $4000 when we reach our 90s ...so many just cannot afford medical coverage any more..

And to think that what we have today is all owed to these old folks.. who the scums and their FTs are now shunning away.. heart-breaking... what can we do to give our elders their dues? For a start, lets buy them a cup of hot coffee and some hotcakes...

A woman broke into tears at a town hall event with Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) during a discussion about President Barack Obama’s plan to reduce Social Security cost of living increases.

Throughout this year, the White House has been considering adopting what’s known as chained CPI, a less generous way of calculating Social Security cost-of-living increases that assumes seniors will change their buying habits as certain items become more expensive.

Compared with the current model, advocacy group Social Security Works has said that a person who began drawing Social Security at the age of 62 would be receiving 7.32 percent less in benefits per year by the age of 88 under chained CPI.

“I’m sorry to say that the president of my own party has advocated this and he’s wrong,” Harkin told a group of seniors at a retirement center on Tuesday. “I’m so tired of people saying we’ve got to cut Social Security. I thought, we got to come back and say something, no, you’ve got to increase Social Security.”

Many attendees also spoke out against the plan, but one woman, Sheryl Tenicat, became emotional as she begged for Social Security not to be cut.

“I have $624 a month, that’s what I’m living on,” Tenicat explained. “Ninety-nine [dollars] of that goes to Medicare Part D and B. After I get my check, in two weeks, it’s gone. I have nothing. I live with what I eat here. And I just do not want my cost of living cut because I’ve paid in since I was 16 to the government. I’m looking for work in my retirement years so that I can exist. I do own my house, but I don’t know how long that will go because I have property taxes to pay.”

Tenicat added that her car had broken down and she now had to take the bus to the retirement center to receive her free meals.

“There is no way for me to eat less,” she said.
