According to The Straits Times of today (31 July 2013), it has been voted the best newspaper again

I wonder how it compares with The Washington Post, New York Times, The Times (of London), International Herald Tribune, Suddeutsche Zeitung, Le Figaro......

on the same day, both chua sisters have been crowned miss world and miss universe respectively.

Being voted "The best newspaper" in Singapore means nothing.
To what are you comparing?

MyPaper? Today? The New Paper?

Journalistic integrity and objectivity still has a long way to go in Sinkie.

To be crowned The Best Newspaper in S'pore is akin to a local football club like Geylang Utd being crowned Champions of the S League..

Another self masturbation accolade being accorded to the Leegime's favorite newspaper..

This accolade once again proves my contention that The Straits Times is The Best newspaper . Talking about other so called fair and balanced internationals, they are all trouble makers with a hidden agenda. Don't be fooled by the so called Internationals. The Straits Times is The Best. Just read this morning, it is so nice, so beautiful, so balanced and so politically correct and unbiased.

I know you guys would not believe me. But if you read after taking all the wooden specks in your eyes, you will discover jewels and gems in our world class Stratis Times. The only newspaper which tells The Truth for the welfare of Singaporeans.

Majulah Singapura!!! Majulah Straits Times!!!

Go stick your head below waterline in toilet bowl still unflushed until your verbal diarrhea finished and flush it there.

you and your usual idiocy ....no standard. can't post, can't challenge, can't debate, just go and sleep ....don't come here and talk about toilet and lausia...no standard despite your seniority....shameful for a forummer....wait for your fate at the bottom of the flush...haha

The Straits Mimes is the only English daily that doesn't have carry a crossword puzzle. And it makes up its own words to suit the national agenda - back in the seventies, it labelled "engine guards" as "crash bars." Couple of A level students meet on weekends to ride their scooters were called "Hell Riders!" And the soul of the paper, its editorial isn't even worth a look at - it doesn't even have an inkling of the sentiment of the masses. That's my personal view of the paper.

Cheers!

I used to think that the ST was bad till I started reading the NZ Herald which is a hundred times worse.

Not at all. The ST distorts one way while the NZ Herald absolutely mauls the news and spins it so far to the liberal left that it become unrecognizable.

I've lived in a few places and have never seen journalistic objectivity in any of them. However, what you usually get is a chance to read a spin to the left and a spin to the right so you can make up your own mind where the truth lies. However, if you think you can get ungarnished facts out of any news organisation, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Take this forum as an example, if it wasn't for my efforts to balance things out, readers who knew nothing about Singapore would get the impression that it was run by the most corrupt government on earth. However, the facts speak for themselves. Singapore is about as clean as a whistle as you can get.

Yes, I would agree with that statement for the most part but the problem in Sinkie is there's only ONE media outlet whether it's Mediacorp or SPH and the govt will never allow a mainstream newspaper or news channel to publish opposing political or social views.

That's why I take my sources from Al Jazeera, BBC, CNN, RT, AP, Reuters, IHT or even online Huffington and Yahoo! when reading about Sinkie news.
These outlets don't spoon feed me with bullshit.
