Because the 60.1 percent didn't know ...most people need to be led to a conclusion. That's why Ms Vivian is working so hard to frame the WP as dishonest and incompetent.
WP had better be prepared for more of that. Sometimes, WP will have to hit back ...can't wait till the next election as by that time, impressions would have been formed.
WP should go on the attack if PAP continues in the current attack mode. There are sufficient issues for the WP to frame the greed, incompetence and culture of entitlement of PAP politicians.

Given that the PAP is so competent and is doing and excellent job in every department, attacking the government is a tall order.
WP would find it far easier to attack themselves given their dismal track record of doing absolutely nothing for Singapore other than spewing hot air in Parliament.

4 deaths due to dengue. Did it need to happen? And your favourite minister was in charge.
Haze - this has been a problem for more than a decade. What has the PAP being doing about it? Nothing.
Public transit frequent breakdows - government told SMRT to hire a general to run the company. General says it will take 5 years to solve current problems.
etc ....
What do you expect the opposition to do with no public resources? If the opposition is given $100 million, they can do much better than the PAP. Darn, one minister already cost us $100 million ...so, that's small change for sinkapore.

Only 4 deaths out of a population of more than 5 million is an excellent outcome. It shows what a good job NEA is doing. If the WP was in charge, the death rate would be much higher.
Haze was fixed within a week. No other government could have worked such a miracle given that the forces of nature are at work.
SMRT breakdowns are few and far between. In Paris, trains have derailed. In Canada, trains run downhill on their own. In Auckland, the trains break down almost daily. Singaporeans should thank their lucky stars that they have such an excellent system which is so reliable in comparison.

How would you know that WP do have done a worse job? I think there would not be any death under a WP government. Even ONE death is totally unacceptable when it was preventable.

We are so used to the bestest ...so our standards are high and rightly so, since we pay our ministers the world's highest salary for government.

Singapore is ranked very highly when it comes to medical care. Google to check the stats. We are tops in many areas including preventable deaths.

Singapore may be paying top dollar for its government but what they get in return is worth its weight in gold. They get health, wealth, peace, stability, a strong economy, a stable currency etc... these are factors which many people in the world can only dream about.
