Sweet potatoes is one of the highest in fiber with lots of vitamins, and can replace rice. And will not digest very quickly. Also it takes more energy to digest protein then carbs - simple or complex. Take some nuts for snacks, nuts will also prevent one from feeling hungry.
Meat has trans fat which increase cholestrol.
Just take mono sat fats from plants to help transport protein into your cells.
I would suggest a balanced diet has all foods has their pros and cons. If you eat sweet potato in large quantity every day, there will bound to be downside, not to mention that sweet potato is quite high in sugar and carbo.
I am not sure if lean meat will cause high density cholesterol. There are studies that indicate meat can help decrease bad cholesterol. Human need good cholesterol.

We have the occasional joke about the asshole tonychat's vegan diet, and i suppose that is fine.
But in the office, there's this female ah neh foreign trash who is a vegetarian and all lunch venues have to accommodate her palate. It's a nightmare when she orders her food. In her fake American accent, she will ask for vegetarian this and that. Less of this. More of that. This one by the side. That sauce please.
What I absolutely cannot understand is how someone who eats nothing but vegetables can still be so fat. Anyone have the answer?
It is not eating vegetables or meat, it is also genetics, but surely she is obnoxious imposing on others, I have colleague like her, if she join in the group to eat, I will opt out, even I am starving. Someone must let her know, that she is imposing on others & rightly so be told off.

Eating meat will not make one fat. That is one myth that must be busted.
What will make you fat are carbs and sugar. People who have a sweet tooth, who likes desserts and cakes and muffins tend to get fat.
I think (north?) Indians like to drink lassi, and you'll see them drink it whenever they consume their Indian vegetarian food. Of course they'll become fat.
ironically, indians who professed and acted outwardly their "strict" vegan and sometimes extreme jain diets consume gallons of ghee or animal lard on a weekly basis without fully realizing it. the high incidence of heart diseases among southern "vegetarian" indians is attributable to the long-term massive consumption of lard. it has literally creeped into their genetic makeup.
