NTUC First Campus has dismissed the 51-year-old teacher from My First Skool at Blk 192 Toa Payoh, with immediate effect, following an injury caused to a child under the teacher's care.

The teacher was arrested on Sunday for allegedly mistreating a three-year-old child by dragging him across the floor and pushing him onto the ground last Friday.

In a statement on Monday, NTUC First Campus said it met the teacher to "give the teacher an opportunity to explain" what happened on July 5. She has acknowledged that her actions were "inappropriate and has accepted the dismissal".

On Monday morning, NTUC First Campus chief executive Chan Tee Seng and My First Skool general manager Adeline Tan met a group of parents to answer queries and to address their concerns. Two parents said they have filed police reports. NTUC First Campus said it assured the parents that it will fully cooperate with the police in these investigations.

Additional parent engagement sessions are also being planned for the rest of the parents from the class.

Senior early childhood specialists from NTUC First Campus's headquarters have also been deployed to support the teachers in the playgroup class to ensure the well-being of the children, and external professional counsellors have been engaged to provide emotional support to staff who have been affected by this incident.

it is full scale cover-up to distract attention on the NTUC management of the centre.

If this teacher is crazy, then she would have done more than this episode. So, it is likely that management were sleeping on the job.

If this teacher is not crazy, then she was under great stress. Is the centre understaff? To generate profit, NTUC reduced headcount to the minimum, thus increasing the stress of the teachers?

Why didn't the other teachers or assistants stop her?

NTUC has to answer these questions. No crocodile tears accepted.

Parents should sue NTUC to $5 million!

Same as how the authorities distanced themselves from Amy Cheong and Laura Ong once the scandal broke out.

Any big diversion effort, to kill media interest.

See how the "union" behaves towards its own employees? Not even a mention that she was going to be counselled etc.

Just, bang, thank you mam - now fcuk off before you drag us down the tube.

I am not some Fortunate man who joined a certain Organisation, hence getting the opportunity of checking his CPF account every month.

I am not someone who literally "murdered" the English language.

I am also not someone (and hope many readers are like me and many others too) who will accept anyone crazy enough to say,

"It was a Grave Mistake. My heart goes along with the feelings of the victim's parents". Lets Move On"

Before the scandal broke and the attempt at cover-up failed, NTUC was still singing praises of their childcare centres and teachers. After all hell breaks loose, it started distancing itself and erect a firewall. Of course, what followed was also SOP- instant dismissal and police action.

When shit hit the fence, anyone will distance themselves from the happening ! That include our ever efficient/profitable NTUC !

Just following standard procedure...."If u die, your Biz!!"

What is the name of the teacher?

Police said the names of the teacher and the child are withheld to protect the child. This is not a case of shame (rape, molest, padeophile), the child cannot be hurt by being identified.

Name the teacher!

NTUC pays very little to their teachers. You expect professional teacher to teach there? Dun blame other people when the parents are cheapskates and want everything cheap. Its comes with a price. That is why only "guess the race" are willing to work there as teachers.

A good question to ask the Minister is whether and how the Ministry makes sure that schools like NTUC have the nec selection criteria in place to recruit the right teachers.

I guess this must be extremely difficult seeing that their own ranks are filled with the corrupt, the lecherous, and the greedy and incompetent.

It's NTUC, a co-op. People rightfully expect cheaper, subsidized rates.

The problem lies with the management cutting costs recklessly, not to pass on additional savings to the parents, but rather so that the CEO and the cronies can laugh all the way to the bank.

This is a disease that has afflicted every aspect of a PAP-run Singapore. This disease must be eradicated.

Thats why the acronym NTUC is a warning:

Never Trust Us Completely
