Gahmen's obsessive obsession with the "right" things is getting ridiculous

Right” politics = Good economy?

The article states that “He added that Singapore must get its politics right in order for its economy to do well.”

Economy doing well?

“In order for its economy to do well”? - Negative real wage growth in 4 out of the last 5 years, low 1.3 per cent growth last year (our Asean neighbours like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines all had over 5 % growth), negative – 0.4 per cent per annum productivity in the last 5 years, high inflation at 4.6 per cent last year and record household debt – total consumer loans of Domestic Banking Units – stood at 279 per cent of the total gross domestic product in the first quarter of this year?

Obsession with “the right” things?

We seem to have an obsessive obsession about having the “right” things. Recently, a Minister said in an international television news programme that when Singaporeans read the news online, we need to ensure that they read the “right” things. And now, we need the “right” politics!

“Nasty side of politics”?

Another article on the same day – “Govt seeks diverse talent but ‘nasty side of politics’ a challenge” – said “Ensuring a diverse mix of talent in the next generation of leaders and protecting their families from the nasty side of politics are some of the challenges in attracting people to politics.”

I was rather amused when I read the above “protecting their families from the nasty side of politics are some of the challenges in attracting people to politics”. Allow me to tell you what so many people that I have met all over the world say about Singapore’s “nasty side of politics”.

Singapore is probably the only country in the world where members of Government still sue ordinary citizens and opposition politicians for criticising the Government. If the Government behaves “nastily” by suing people, what do you expect the people to do – be ‘nice’? (Not that I agree that the internet in Singapore is ‘nastier’ than other countries).

The “right” criticism?

I think one of the reasons why some may not want to be politicians may be because

This is what the pap wants.....everything "right".........

The only right thing is for that smear of shit on sole of shoe LKY to go eat joss sticks and candle wax and to watch from ring side seat front role in real time of the demons and ghouls fucking and raping Gheckko and to see her truly enjoying those fucks unlike what he can do.

And for the world of PAP to implode from like a ripe pus filled abscess from the accumulated filth and self serving greed and evilness inherent within them

The PAP govt is good to think long term. Populist policies will not last. Look at Ying Luck and her rice problem!

The past ten years we have seen ample proof that no long term thinking was done. Everything is about pinky getting instance gratification. Example is casino, massive import of foreigners, insufficient housing leading to home price bubble, hollowing out of sinkies in key industries etc.

Even the 6.9 mil policy this year shows their lack of foresight. As one uncle rightly pointed out: after achieving 6.9 mil in 2030, what's next?

Look at Hsien Loong and his FT problem. The solution to everything under the sun is, bring in more foreigners.

No money? Bring in more foreigners
Low birth rates? Bring in more foreigners
Boost competitiveness? Bring in more foreigners
Overcrowding? Bring in more foreigners
Lack of housing? Bring in more foreigners

We are paying millions and millions for this kind of leadership. Sibe au.

If Sinkies think that Pinky is going to curb the inflow of FTs (not foreign workers), dream on.

Read the following article that was published on the front page of The Straits Times, 6 July 2013.

Internationally we stand high? Hahaha

People only know us as the caning country and the ban chewing cum country

Half the world think we are in China

Great insight by LHL! We certainly need to get the politics right. Otherwise, our next generation will suffer under the incompetency of a clueless WP, SDP or NSP.

End of the day, we need to put food on the table. Only PAP can deliver.
All these internet freedom is useless when we have nothing to eat.
Security is also important. The SPF must be strengthen to ensure that we have basic peace and security for all Singaporeans.

He wants to bring in 10 more billionaires if he can. Question: how many jobs did the FB co-founder created since re-locating here, apart from "investing" with Miss Singapore Rachael Kum in some business or other? Okay, he consumes some expensive champagne a couple of times a week.

In reality, the nation have been providing welfare state benefits (juz because of one party rule system) to leeches aka papees leeching on the system. These leeches aka papees wasting nation's time and resources and etc every single second of the Mother Earth's day. By some unfortunate default, we as a nation have to put food on table and tonnes of $$$ for these leeches...

The country needs the government (employees of the public) to work for the country.
Can these leeches aka papees become self reliant? Get a job and be prepared to work hard
at least for once in a lifetime. Stop Leeching on the system.

What Pinky really meant by bringing in more billionaires is to have them stash their wealth in Sinkieland so as to avoid paying taxes to their respective governments back home.

It is one thing to strive to be a perfectionist, but in reality, a country has to accept that not everyone of her citizens can be perfect. There will be the poor, the ordinaries who are just your average working-class Joe, the invalids of whom a country has to accept and provide a decent standard of living. A country is not run like a corporation/company where the HR person will select only those who meet the requirement, country has to accept those who are not "up there" as well. All through her short-history, Singapore's media has been givng accolades to LKY and his government, while the hard work, toil, and sacrifice by the majority of her citizens have not even been touched upon. How difficult is it to rule over such a cooperative (or obedient) group of people who without question altogether decide not to chew gum? Try this anywhere else in the world and the government will be out in 24 hours. It is about time Singapore look at her people and give credit where its due. All this talk of good government is due to obedient citizenry. There was progress in Singapore because of the collective effort of her citizens to work hard and not give problems, it is about time the gahmen appreciated that.

Cheers!

He actually is right. Singapore must get its politics right. The trouble is, we dont have the right team in government.
That makes the politics not right.

PAP's long term is to make the ministers richer. No populist policies for sure as it means less for the PAP leaders.
