SINGAPORE: Police arrested 108 suspects in an island-wide operation which ended early Saturday morning.
The suspects, comprising 21 men and 87 women aged between 17 and 43 years, were arrested for various offences including suspected involvement in gang-related activities and vice-related activities, as well as drug-related offences.
Enforcement officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau and Singapore Civil Defence Force also took part in the operation.
The officers conducted a series of targeted raids and checks at various locations including shop-houses, entertainment outlets, coffee shops, youth hangouts and back alleys in the vicinity of Victoria Street, South Bridge Road, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, Raffles Boulevard, Orchard Road, Geylang and Joo Chiat.
Among those arrested, five men were charged in court on Saturday. They are suspected to be members of a vice syndicate. Investigations against the other arrested suspects are ongoing.
