An advice to Singaporeans

Thanks to the internet, the pathetic plight of Singaporean PMETs are getting an airing that otherwise would not be heard. A blogger, SNG’s article in Gilbert’s Transitioning Org blog, dedicated to jobless Singaporeans, is being reposted in TR Emeritus (TRE).
Another article of a graduate Singaporeans who had to hide his degree qualification just to get a temp job and was asked to leave when he applied for a permanent position was also posted in TRE. They discovered that he had a degree and not just a diploma.
Some may denounce him for lying. But why must he lie about his higher qualification? Isn’t that something to be proud of, to be added in the CV to enhance the chances of an application and higher pay? How can the situation become so ridiculous that I can’t even laugh? Singaporeans hiding their higher qualifications in order to get a lower grade and lower paying job? If this is the case, the call for Singaporeans not to pursue university education may be the result of this new reality. And there is no need for more universities unless to cater for foreign students.

In SNG’s case, he managed to work 17 months out of 36 months, and not that he is not qualified and lack experience. He has worked overseas as an expat as well which means he was good enough. And now finding a job here is so difficult for him.
And we have more than a million foreigners happily working here, maybe nearer to two millions if PRs are included. And many more foreigners are happily rushing here as jobs are plenty and easy to get except for Singaporeans. What the hell is going on?

What is happening? Dunno leh. Maybe Singaporeans are really daft. Maybe the local universities, despite their world class rankings, are teaching craps or producing crappy graduates. Maybe Singaporeans are basically unemployable because they are Singaporeans and companies, organisations, institutions and even ministries are finding it more beneficial to hire foreigners or PRs.

I have only one conclusion. Singaporeans are simply disease. They carry a disease that made them unemployable. Or if they are employable, at most up to 50 or maybe lower, about 40. After that their mind will shrivel and their intellect and ability to work just diminished and no longer productive. They should then be despatched to the lepers colony till death comes.

So it is paramount that the City must import more foreigners to boost up the City’s productivity and to replace the diseased Singaporeans.

When my overseas uni-educated brother-in-law lost his IT job 10 years’ ago,
he wanted to pursue a master degree so as to be “relevant” because at that time,
that was the thing on the minister’s lips – Singaporeans must continue to
educate themselves to stay relevant, especially the older ones. Well, my
brother-in-law was 35 then.

After he got his masters, it became worse. He could not even get an
interview! To cut a long story short, by allowing foreigners to come in to take
over middle management positions, what do you expect? Are they going to hire
Singaporeans? No way! This influx on middle managers began more than 10 years’
ago – since 2000.

Now, many of those who came in as supervisors (S Pass holders) have already
worked their way upwards and are now middle managers too. It is clear that the
workplace management is already (if not very soon) under the control of
foreigners, who will employ their own kind.

Point to note: most foreigners in supervisory roles who have ascended to
manager’s role have very poor education and they certainly will not hire anyone
smarter than them once they are managers – more so now that they know
Singaporeans dislike them. Do not forget that their ascend upward was made easy
by hundreds of WDA’s so-called “competency” courses, sponsored by government.
Why wouldn’t they be so damn happy when the govt pay for their training to
acquire skills after skills. Now they have reached a higher position where they
can multi-task and function with a manager’s title. They are paid lesser, can’t
articulate much, non-discerning and have no inkling about management. This is
why we can see quality gong down the drain everywhere.

This is the real reason why Singapore PMEBs cannot find jobs. But the key
reason is that employers do not have to pay CPF to contracted foreigners. Local
PMEBs are competing on unfair ground created by the government. Well, these are
facts are well-known.

Only the elites will be okay. Heard of someone the same batch scholarship as
LHL..one is peeM, the other retrenched and doing adhoc job. One drawing to the
tune of millions another a few thousAnds..So tell me, why is LHL able to warm
his iron rice bowl..bc of connections. What meritocracy..I never believe in it.

Dear Redbean,

The Pro-Alien Party self interest in liberal immigration and lax manpower
policies to attract more foreign talents, new PRs and new citizens to top up new
votes for coming GE 2016, and after that have caused irreparable damage to
Singaporean PMETs in family unity and sanity, low TFR, health in terms of
physical health and psychiatric health, suicide rate of Singaporean adults with
high qualification.

I have come to a conclusion that future Singaporean PMETs or SINKIE cores
will be living destitution and even marginalized to become a minority native
like the red Indian in America or aborigines in Australia with the exception of
no assistance from Pro-Alien Party, meaning “you die your business” or borrow
from our famous callous MIW minister -”Go and Die in JB”.

Worst still, the future of Singapore as a nation is no longer a nation but a
hotel for foreigners – FT/FW and “Singapore Inc” for elitist Pro-Alien Party,
the rich and connected of Pro-Alien Party – another form of cronyism and
nepotism legally.

Therefore, either Singaporean PMETs migrate to overseas now and immediately –
be quitters reluctantly or living in destitution and one day, “cannot tahan”, go
out to the street to be like Cairo – the Singapore Spring and be shot by our NS
or foreign Cisco guards.

Dear Good Singaporean,

Please wake up to vote wisely for all opposition parties so they can fight
the Pro-Alien Party to safe guard our welfare and our next generation
future.

Else, one day, our own security will shoot us with guns to quell our
grievance of unemployment, no job, no hope, no food, no live and ….

Wither Singapore like George Yeo said …..

Please wake up and the call of our NS duty to fight our enemy from within and
today our enemy is not from outside but the treacherous Pro-Alien Party in
marginalizing Singaporean.

REDBEAN, HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS – it is now OFFICIAL – economic genocide of
Singaporeans to be displaced by foreigners! So what is the point of studying
part-time get a degree/postgraduate degree to update qualifications and add
knowledge to be a PMET only to be retrenched because you are “overqualified” and
“too expensive” – so you better wonder off to become taxi-drivers or selling
insurance.

Is there any surprise that even great scholars turned to “PIMPING’ for a and
those PMETs in sales SELL SEX for job security?

And which is WHY I STRONGLY OBJECT TO THE LACK OF WELFARE SUPPORT for
retrenched workers. The governing feels and accepts NO RESPONSIBILITY for their
failures of economic mismanagement and unemployed statistics can be fudged since
the number of welfare receipts is PROOF OF ACTUAL NUMBER OF UNEMPLOYED. Without
welfare, the governance pretends 2.6% unemployed and family struggles day to day
for survival taking lower jobs and under-declaring their qualifications.

BASICALLY THE NO-WELFARE POLITICS IS VERY WASTEFUL – a lot of expensive
education and skills acquired are thrown onto the public rubbish heap the moment
a PMET IS RETRENCHED and the governance PRETENDS YOU ARE FORGOTTEN
STATISTICS.

SINGAPORE MUST CHANGE ITS POLITICS IF THIS NATION IS TO SURVIVE. THE
POLITICAL GOVERNANCE IS A MEANDERING RIVER OF ENDLESS LIES, SCAMS AND
DECEPTIONS.

My foreign FT CEO said that foreigners are cheaper and also no employer CPF
payment needed for S Pass and Employment Pass holders. She said that every
company she headed has always been profitable. She called this good
house-keeping and every week about 3 Singapore staff earning above 4k were
retrenched, only to be filled by cheaper foreigners paid under S Pass and EP
guidelines. When she was doing this, she spent a lot of time taking care of
those Singaporeans earning less than 2k. As I was drawing 5k, I was close to the
last lot being retrenched. Some small mercy because I was a heavy contributor to
have a few months looking for a job before the axe. Fortunately, a friend of
mine was looking for someone with my kind of experience. That friend is a fully
bred Singaporean and she gave me 6k for the job. Now I have no faith mixing with
FTs.

If the government wants less graduates, why is the government building that many universities then? For foreigners?

When they thought there were too many doctors, they reduced medical school spots. Then, they realized that they were wrong and quietly took in thousands of doctors from India. Now, they are experimenting again. Don't they know that higher literacy enables economic growth?

Currently many employers refused to hire younger sinkie (U25) ones and these employers hired foreigners pay than a higher salaries than the locals.

The employers mindset now are to look after the foreigners well here and groom them into senior management positions. Personally I knew some average joes and many old ladies supported these scheme and even said that foreigners are capable and had intentional experience.

I believe sinkies who supported these scheme will regret one day :p

The world has changed and Singaporeans should get used to it.

The days of an university education to a plump job is over. Last time, when a kampong boy graduate with a degree, parents will advertise the good news in the newspaper and the kampong will come out to celebrate. Then he will get a clerk job in a British colonial firm.

Nowadays, graduates are cheap and plentiful, esp from China.



New rich are Australia's tradies, miners, and construction workers

IT used to be the power tie that was a mark of success - now it's the fluorescent shirt that denotes who really earns the big bucks.
While financiers and computer experts may have enjoyed fatter wallets in the past, Australia's army of miners, tradies and construction workers are now leaving their white-collared peers for dead financially.

According to a report released yesterday, blue-collar workers earn an average $1229 a week - a record $144 more than those working behind a desk.

And for the first time, six of the top 10 highest paying industries in the Suncorp Bank Wages Report have come from the blue-collar sector, which signals a significant change in the Australian financial demographic.

Suncorp Bank executive manager Tony Meredith, who commissioned the report, said the Australian Bureau of Statistics' findings debunked the common belief that a university degree was needed to make it big in the Australian workforce .

"When I left school everyone knew you had to go to university to get a good income," Mr Meredith said.
"The guy with the big house and fancy car used to be the working professional.

"Now the fancy house could just as easily belong to the guy wearing a fluoro vest and holding a stop sign.

Blue-collar jobs nothing to be ashamed of

Many fresh college graduates are whining nowadays that in the current labor market they are priced less than vegetables, a metaphor for the declining starting salary for college graduates.

Meanwhile, another noticeable phenomenon is the shocking labor shortage in the manufacturing zones in Eastern and Southern China. Factories have to woo workers with better welfare packages and compensation.

Behind the contrast is the persisting concept in China that favors brainwork over manual labor. Blue-collar jobs are simply not a choice for urban kids, and the thinking also extends to rural youngsters. Young people accept nothing below junior office work no matter how frustrated they become with job hunting.

With universities and colleges churning out 3 million graduates every year, many compete for low-end white-collar jobs, even though many housekeepers are enjoying a white-collar salary now.

To a large extent, the long time contempt toward manual labor stems from its low compensation. Throughout Chinese history, as a country built on agricultural economy, education had been the privilege for an elite few and was the only way to step into a leadership position.

Today, massive industrialization has disintegrated China's traditional social structure, but obviously, the dislike of blue-collar work stubbornly persists. The idolization of management jobs still permeates throughout Chinese society.

Given China's economic structure, its continuous growth cannot advance without a sustained supply of high quality blue-collar labor. In the long run, a large number of blue-collar workers will still be a necessity in China no matter how successful it becomes moving up the industrial chain. The world just cannot take in every Chinese worker as designer or manager.

There is nothing to be ashamed if you work with your hands. This long twisted concept that looks down on an honest day's work has to be corrected. The change is important for the country to balance its job market and solve the problem of insufficient employment for college graduates.

Rising salaries reflect the real value of blue-collar jobs. It is necessary to further promote a skilled labor culture. The quality of China's economy is not built on innovation alone, but also on the quality of its labor.

The dream of being a white-collar country will not come to fruition.

All this didn't happen overnight. Sporeans should have demanded answers from their world class PAP MPs
Had a lot of lunch time chats with colleagues who were more interested in discussing car prices, where to go for holidays,...
