NCMP Lina Chiam hands out free masks to Potong Pasir residents. What about Sitoh???

Re: NCMP Lina Chiam hands out free masks to Potong Pasir residents. What about Sitoh?

If it is absorbed into Toa Payoh GRC, what is going to happen to Sitoh? He had to wait for many long years before he could become an MP. Will he be "retired" or will he stand alongside Dr Ng Eng Hen and his GRC ticket?

I hope Lina Chiam is not as naive as her husband in trying to contest that GRC. She will surely lose. The residents there are not loyal to the Chiam family, unlike Potong Pasir. Moreover, she will have problems finding a well-balanced GRC team. Unless she can put out a really credible slate (like WP's Aljunied team), the chances of victory are slim to none.

In fact I wonder why Chiam See Tong had to choose that GRC (out of all constituencies in Singapore) to contest.

He should have held on to his Potong Pasir seat. It is not as if he is young anymore.

And even if he was insistent on contesting a GRC, there were many better options to choose from.

Re: NCMP Lina Chiam hands out free masks to Potong Pasir residents. What about Sitoh?

Sun Ho has been to China and Africa to help the poor. Her love for mankind reaches far beyond Singapore's shores.

Lina Chiam can only manage one small area of a little red dot.

Sun Ho's cunt can accommodate all nationalities.

Sun Ho

Humanitarian work[edit]

Ho worked as a counselor for troubled teens from 1996 to 2001 at City Harvest Community Services Association,[SUP][43][/SUP] a social organization which she has personally founded[SUP][34][/SUP] Since establishing her career as a pop artist in April 2002, she continues to be involved in fundraising for various charitable organizations.[SUP][34][/SUP] Her humanitarian team was involved in the Tsunami Disaster Relief Operations (2005), building of schools and medical clinics in Indonesia and China as well as orphanages in Sri Lanka.[SUP][44][/SUP] In 2002, the Junior Chamber of Singapore awarded Ho with “The Outstanding Young Person Award.”[SUP][31][/SUP] Subsequently, Ho represented Singapore in the global TOYP ceremony and was awarded the “Outstanding Young Person of the World Award” in 2003.[SUP][31][/SUP][SUP][45]

Ho has donated money from her royalties to build schools in Chongqing, Guizhou and Henan (China). She also sponsored a computer lab for the school in Liaoning, China. In 2007, she visited Henan Province where her donation of RMB350,000 (SGD70,000) paid for the rebuilding of a rundown school and its teaching facilities.[SUP][46][/SUP]
In June 2007, Ho was appointed the Music Ambassador for the 2008 Beijing Olympics Songfest by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad.[SUP][47][/SUP][SUP][48]
[/SUP]

In August 2007, Ho was named the Charity Ambassador of Love for Asia’s first Special Olympic World Summer Games. At the Special Olympics Charity Gala held on August 11, 2007, Ho auctioned off two personal items to raise RMB600,000 (SGD120,000) for the Special Olympic Games. Together with Sun Nan, she also performed the Special Olympic official theme song “We Are Together.”[SUP][49]

In February 2008, Ho sang the inaugural Mandarin rendition of the 100-year-old Olympic Hymn at the opening of the “Olympic Philately & Cultural Tour” launched by The Beijing Olympics. Held at the Royal Theatre within the Forbidden City, Ho was accompanied by a choir of overseas Chinese from 16 different nationalities.[SUP][50][/SUP]
2008 Sichuan earthquake[edit]

In May 2008, Ho gave 500 tents to aid as temporary shelter for displaced families of the earthquake in Sichuan, China. Along with her personal donation, Ho also gathered some friends to raise RMB650,000 (SGD129,000) to buy stationery and educational supplies for the children.[SUP][51][/SUP][SUP][52][/SUP]
Ho performed on CCTV’s charity program as part of the “Rebuilding The Homeland With One Heart” project to help the quake victims. Other activities of the project include inviting Sichuan artists to Singapore to hold an art exhibition which will showcase the courage of the quake survivors, as well as setting up an education and music foundation for the orphans and other victims of the earthquake.[SUP][52]

The way things are going for PAP, if the elections are held now, they will surely lose. We'll vote for anyone just to fuck with them, the way they have completely screwed us over.

It was a perfectly sound strategy......going up against Mat Selamat Wong..........
Alas it was not to be......no thanks to dumbfucks in both PP and Bishan.

Her humanitarian team was involved in the Tsunami Disaster Relief Operations

Samantha dear, why bother? You know I'll only tell you that her bloody cunt caused the Tsunami. ;)

On the contrary......of late he is in fine form.

With the Lord guiding me, I can do no wrong.

You are not the 60.1% and you do not know how they think.

Seriously I can tell you that there are some who think that the government is doing a wonderful job in managing the haze crisis.

I think they do a wonderful job in just about everything.

Yes, but I'm hopeful that part of the 60.1% has come around. No one can be that daft forever.

It was not a one-on-one fight with Wong. The PAP team in that constituency also included Ng Eng Hen who is seen as a heavyweight, and he has been able to avoid any controversies while steadily building up his profile. Some view him as arrogant but he is still regarded as one of the better PAP ministers (as seen by his appointment as the Haze Task Force chief), and most importantly of all he has not committed any serious gaffes, nor have there been any bombshells under his watch. Thus his political capital is not to be underestimated -- it is far stronger than other ministers who have presided over high-profile controversies like, say, Lui Tuck Yew or Vivian Balakrishnan.

And it's not just Ng Eng Hen. There are other factors to consider in a GRC contest. The PAP slate there is quite balanced, with a strong minority candidate in Hri Kumar, and a female candidate in Josephine Teo who has a "soft" and "caring" image.

Chiam's team had the scholar Ben Pwee who looked promising. But the other team members had no electable profile whatsoever and they did not have a female candidate, which is important. You are choosing a team, not just one candidate. I dare say Chiam would have polled better had he gone up against Wong Kan Seng in a straight one-on-one fight.

Re: NCMP Lina Chiam hands out free masks to Potong Pasir residents. What about Sitoh?

That shows she's deaf too. Potong Pasir delivered a very clear message that they don't want the Chiams anymore. For some strange reason, she has not heard it.

Don't politicise this! The haze issue is a national issue. Lina Chiam has done what she can.

I agree...considering that Chiam was just trying his luck, it was a really good showing. The pappies did not win by a very big margin...so there is hope!

Lost my day job more than 17 years ago. That's why I now do comedy writing.

Re: NCMP Lina Chiam hands out free masks to Potong Pasir residents. What about Sitoh?

Yes, but I'm hopeful that part of the 60.1% has come around. No one can be that daft forever.

I don't think they are really daft. It is how the PAP (and the media) frames the issues. The PAP is good at controlling the narrative and setting the agenda. The WP is a price-taker on this one, it plays according to the PAP's rules and opposes within the framework which the PAP has set. Unlike say the SDP which actually tries to actively frame the narrative its own way -- but falls short due to its lack of grassroots support.

If you watch the Talking Point episode with Tan Chuan Jin, you will see what I mean -- just listen to some of the shit that the callers actually say. Or look at the ministers' FB profiles and look at some of the comments there. It will take a lot of work before they can be "won over". This cannot be done gradually -- they need to undergo a dramatic paradigm shift and come to the realisation that the issues are sometimes more complex and abstract than what the PAP makes them out to be.

For instance, you take this haze crisis -- the PAP tries to position it as being caused by the Indonesians, focusing on the irresponsibility, the lack of good neighbourliness, even playing up the remarks from the Indonesian ministers and calibrating their replies to make them appear to be more magnanimous. They try and focus the public consciousness on the cause of the haze, and then they try to position themselves as fellow victims along with the people. Then they play the hero card -- they are fighting for our well-being even though there is nothing they can do.

What they did not focus on was the poor response to the haze domestically -- the failure to ensure sufficient supplies of N95 masks, the failure to plan ahead, the failure to organise a systematic relief program for sufferers. If you look at situations such as earthquakes in Japan or Taiwan etc, the authorities are usually able to respond within hours, setting up a presence in almost every single locality (including rural areas) to offer food rations, masks, first aid kits, and other essential supplies. The fact that Singapore did not have such contingency plans alludes to the PAP's negligence. The haze occurs annually but never has the PSI hit 300, much less 400, so they took it for granted and underestimated the scale of the problem.

However this is NOT what people are focusing on. The majority of people (if you look at the ministers' FB pages, and read the MSM) are instead focusing on the cause of the haze -- which is favourable for the PAP since most know that the PAP can't do anything about a problem that takes place within Indonesia's jurisdiction.

Sitoh will hand out ass hole cover to cover back sides! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Re: NCMP Lina Chiam hands out free masks to Potong Pasir residents. What about Sitoh?

Sitoh should count himself lucky.

The PAP did not allow him to become an MP.

It was Chiam See Tong who allowed him to become an MP.
