SAF is required but on minimal scale. Ns should be served 3 mths instead of 2 yrs. Females should serve 3 mths in other areas of NS e.g medics etc. Jiak liao bee regulars should be reduced and make those sign up not to jiak liao bee.

But reservists be given monetary incentive to sign up for the reserves, and reservist training shd never be longer than 7days. Outsource logistics to contractors, ie.. Reservist inpro liao only need to draw arms and the rest of the equipments already prepare im advance by constractors. Basically inpro first day already can move outfield.

What the point of having 300k reservist when more than half are not interested. Might as well save the money and use it to reward the motivated.

Nobody asked the SAF to kaypoh and poke its nose into other territories. For example, the SAF helped rebuild Aceh after the tsunami. That's something for the Red Cross to do, not the SAF.

The people who should be patrolling the Straits of Malacca are those countries which directly control it. Singapore, a small country, should only patrol as far as the sea around Tuas and Jurong Island.
