Not Army. Ex CDF
Aiya.... old trend. Once SAF scholar in Singapore, forever a scholar
- Already sponsored to study in Harvard in attempt to improve his management skills. This kind of course every night go out drinking and networking, no homework one
- As spare wheel in a low key position to allow him to adjust to civilian life; free tuition from the other PS
Thank you taxpayers! Thank you
How do you know the course is slack?
He is 49 years old and has had a 30-year career. He started working for the SAF at the age of 19?
According to the Oxford dictionary, "illustrious" means "very famous and much admired, especially because of what you have achieved".
Question is: Neo Kian Hong is very famous for what? He is much admired for what? And what he has achieved for which he became very famous?
I did not hear of anyone failing.........
I supposed the SAFOS are considered in service from the day of enlistment, including those years spent at university while on SAFOS.
Organised NDP
Allow soldiers to book in book out in Bermudas...opps sorry this one choped by another paper general liao.
Please..he did serve with the East Timor peacekeeping force. If you want to insult, insult Chan Chun Sing and Ng Yat Chung

i did not insult him......i think he was the best of the worst.......earlier post i said he suited to be a soldier and should remain as one......
since they are paid a full salary even during studies.......
I believe so.
What a privilege, receiving a full salary as a LTA and university student.
Followed by accelerated promotion on a scholars' pay scale.

If they study in different countries, the exchange rate will change the amount they are paid. Or are they paid something else?
The total cost of a scholar to taxpayers ....let me make a calculated stab at it
At university
Fees, books and accommodation for 4 years at Ivy League school - $750k
Stipend, clothing allowances, flights home for 4 years - $250k
Career
First 2 years @ 10k per month (include bonus & CPF - 16 months) - 360k
Next 3 years @ 20k per month (include bonus & CPF - 20 months per year) - 1.36 million
Next 5 years @ 30k per month (include bonus & CPF - 25 months per year) - 4.24 million
Until retirement, 35 years @ $1.3 million annually ....$45.5 millions
Cost to taxpayers for a scholar = $52 million!
Is a scholar worth $52 million???????
I do not know what is the salary scale for this decade, but during my time (late 1970's), if my memory serves me well, the salary is not that generous.
A non scholar 2LT was about $400 to $500 per month
LTA about $600 pee month
CPT about $800
I believe that a SAFOS LTA is about $800 to $100, plus allowances as a regular
But say if you were studying in the US, the LTA salary you earn into your US Bank account would be different from those say studying in Australia
During my time (late 1970's), I believe the salary is in SGD, plus clothing allowance for countries with winter(s).
A SAFOS LTA's salary is higher than a regular non scholar CPT.
I wished I had saved that salary chart.
