I had till now only been reading what had transpired. It seemed pretty bad for the PAPzis though it was always qualified by the writers. Now this video shows how badly Khaw handled this question, and suggests how badly he handled the rest.

If indeed there were standard software available, why the hell did the PAPzis have to spend so much money to develop one and then sell it to AIM and have AIM lease it back to the TCs? Now that would be making a mountain of a molehill!

The COW is indeed ignorant. Using his logic, all the MNCs should ditch their multi-million dollar software and use cheap software to run their business. And his government should ditch the SAP software that cost them hundreds of millions in licensing and implementation cost and years to implement. You would think that a 'talent' like the COW should know such things. Why are we paying him millions?

So, why did the PAP TCs develop their own software?

LHL should haul up COW and give him a tongue lashing for exhibiting total ignorance of software. As a millionaire minister, he should be on top of his files but he doesn't even know basic stuff on municipal management software and software implementation. It wasn't so much the ad hominem attack I take issue with - it's part of debate. But also part of parliamentary debate is that you always refer to your opponent in the third person, which he initially did. Then, he seemed to have lost control when he said, "Please, don’t behave as if you’re the only patriot in this House."

He would have done better to say, "Ms Lim of Aljunied GRC should perhaps not behave as if she were the only patriot in the House." Small changes in words but big changes in tone. As I'd said earlier - badly brought up.
