Tourist enters Swissotel rooftop illegally and risks his life taking photo at its edge

This article was contributed by the STOMP Team.

A photograph of a bird's eye view of Singapore from the rooftop of Swissotel was uploaded online. The tourist who took the photo said he had entered the rooftop access illegally.

The photo also shows the feet of a man, who is apparently the photographer, at the edge of the rooftop.

How did the man manage to make his way to the rooftop, and why is he risking his life just to take a photo?

According to the exif data of the image, it was created on January 13, 2013, at 05:39:12+04:00 hours (about 9.39am Singapore time). It was taken by a Canon EOS 40D.

In a blog post about Singapore on April 24, a Russian user, Raskalov, had uploaded the photo with the description:

"View down from the roof of one of the tallest buildings in Singapore. Interesting fact is that I entered the roof illegally and I didn't even think of any consequences, however I wasn't caught.

"I spent 4 days in Singapore, two of them just walking around the city because on the second day I read about the strictness of Singapore laws. As it turned out you can easily spend up to 1 year in prison for breaking a lock and additionally you can be beaten with sticks."

The photographer had also uploaded photos of other Singapore attractions taken from very high places onto the blog entry.

Why didn't he take a dive down? Too many Ruskies (and PRCs) in the world, one less would be good.

This guy doesn't know danger.

I strong gust of wind will send him tumbling down like humpty dumpty.

if nothing goes wrong, everything ok.
if something goes wrong, he is making everyone busy.

next time must go hotel rooftop and fuck. sweet.:D

A while back there was this Russian guy who fell to his death at that hotel.

Was he just an unlucky photographer who slipped on the rooftop ?

Pattaya is the place to go if you want to see Russians: young, old, skinny, fat, they are everywhere:)

This Ruskie has taken some good shots of Sinkie downtown. Gotta admire his iron balls for standing on top of the Swissôtel.
