It's sad that many Singaporeans are living overseas. There are 200,000 Singaporean living overseas, with 50,000 of them in Australia and another 40,000 in GB. I forsee more to come by 2030. And our daft government is not putting up enough incentives to retain them, instead of concentrating on bring FTs in.

A small portion of my family and friends have already done so, and there is a growing sentiment to leave the country amongst those still in Singapore. Resentment against the government is growing and generally most agreed the government has made blunders, that changes Singapore and affects our lives. The sad fact, is due to the deeply ingrained law abiding mentality of most Singaporeans, many do not wish to actively oppose the government, due to the hassle or fear, instead, they rather leave quietly.

MIW hope is that the 40% that oppose them leave. They can be replaced.

Its not always about the Pappies. Some leave for the more open spaces and shit. If one solely leave peesai because of the goberment, then they might not like what they find on the other side. To me why stay in peesai when there is a whole wide world out there. Lots of things to explore. Some people I know immigrated more then 30 years ago but end up living a dull lifestyle and never adventuring out of their houses. Quite pointless if you move to a big cuntry and stay home all the time even when they got plenty of annual leave.

I love the Pappies. They are probably one of the best governments in the whole wide world....far enough to the right to put the bleeding liberals in their place.

I left because Singapore is located in a really crummy neighborhood.

Being surrounded by 300 million Muslims is not my idea of an ideal home.

correction : surrounded by terrorists, one day you will enjoy party with them, the next day, they will bomb you to defend their religion. Just like the terrorists in boston, all the american who knew them said they are normal and friendly. When US economic collapse, their military being cut back, the so call friendly neigbours of singapore will invade, big poor countries conquer small rich country, just like it should be since the beginning of time.

I think many will agree that whether you go to HK, Australia, Canada, US,.... the attraction is the quality of life. If you want more "excitement" you can always choose to live in the bigger cities or chose to do forex:)

I think the the biggest problem of living in Spore are too many uncertainties you can't control. There are poor worker's rights in Spore. Your boss can replace you with a cheaper foreigner anytime. Chances are higher when you reach your 40's & not everyone would have saved enough $$$ by that age.

Especially when you cannot control the price hikes of the PAP monopolies such as health care, utilities, public transports, .... and all those hidden taxes.

Yup youre right John boy. Peesai alot of shit is in your face kinda thing man. Too tiresome to keep up. Getting old la. Haha

If that is a good reason to quit peesai for you, its good enough for me to do the same. Living among real sheeps still better then fake ones.

My needs are really very simple I don't really need a car, house, .... i.e. the 5C's to be happy. Maybe that's why I've managed to save enough $$$ for an exciting life elsewhere:) .

Can see so many young Sporeans with white hair & even bald young Sporeans out there
In the past there were young Sporeans trying to look older to qualify for some jobs. Older Sporeans trying to look younger to keep their job. Now ALL Sporeans are facing the problem of being replaced bt cheaper foreigners.

Life is sure tough in Spore. Thank you PAP for doing such a good job:rolleyes:

On the contrary, living in Sinkland have the least uncertainities and those that are there, to some extent you can control.

It's yourself that you need to bring to control not as much as those generated by Pappy policies.

FTs or not, everywhere you go, you will face competition.

How much you make is up to your capability, do not place the blame on the system.

At least on your home turf, you can lever on some advantages.

If you can't, it's you that is to be blame.

Not the system.

so are you defending the need for NS and large military spending by Singapore?

I have applied for positions in a GLC & they expect Sporeans to provide the all the details of one's primary school, secondary school & degree. Do they expect the same information from foreigners with foreign degress:confused: It's no secret that in many 3rd world countries like india, china,... one can buy fake degrees. Some of these foreigner have been caught & it's anyone's guess as to how bad the problem is?

Degrees may not be as valuable as some may think but if it is being used to determine qualification. Don't think it's fair for someone with fake qualifications to displace a Sporean with the use of a fake or a when qualification standards are more lax .

In fact any foreign tom dick & harry can come to Spore & work. Try to do that in Canada, US, Thailand, Indonesia, ... etc. All these countries have some sort of procedures to ensure that their CITIZENS come first. As a Sporean I would expect the same protection.

For each unemployed/under employed Sporean the country will bare some social cost. PAP as the Spore gov't has to look after it's own citizens & not the welfare of foreigners.

What is the advantage of being a Sporean:confused:
Being a Sporean is a handicap. It means that we have reservists obligations. In the real world we have tight deadlines & what do you think the bosses reaction will be when you tell him/her that you have to go off to play soldier:confused:

Foreigners can afford to undercut their Spore counterparts because of their lower living costs. It's much cheaper living in the Philippines, China,... When they go home they can also withdraw their CPF . Whereas Sporeans are stuck in Spore with the PAP's higher costs.

The only certainty we have is that the government will continue to remunerate themselves at world class standards. Just a couple years ago, who can say with certainty the prices of housing and cars will rise so much? Hell even the million-dollar ministers cannot foresee that, and even now, are clueless on how to stabilize it, look at the cooling measures, so many rounds still no use.

Problem is home turf also no use, we are disadvantaged by a system that promotes 'cheaper is better'. Home turf needs to be protected by the locals, foreigners just enjoy the security we provide. I guess you are right, it's our fault that we are born in Singapore, need to serve two years of our lives, plus reservist, plus RT. Maybe should just follow my friend, go overseas study medicine, practice there and last i heard, he's intending to stay there.
