To be a clean government, let declare our assets and possession

Countless times we hear about clean, incorruptible, white image of PAP government.
Confuse me is that they do not need to declare their assets and possession.

Asset declaration is compulsory in all developed countries; Taiwan, S.Korea, Japan, even in poor Thailand.

How about mangoes? how many they have, must declare, or not??:D

PAP even went an extra mile to abolish Estate Tax. Why would they want to do that?

And anyone still expect them to publicly declare their assets?

Really pissed off.
Very shameful act.
They think Sinkies are nut!

Didn't we have Lee Kuan Yew declaring that he is very honest and incorruptible in a pathological fashion a few years ago?
Using the papers and media to declaring that on almost weekly/daily.

By shouting and screaming loud enough and long enough, that will be enough.
No need to declare assets and possessions

So... it is precedent for all to follow?
Then, just need obedient news media...

If MIWs declare their assets to the public, more GRCs will fall. I dare suggest, averagely at least 3 private properties for past and present MIW. Value for the 3 properties, 8 million today? For ministers, past and present, should have at least 5 properties. Value of at least 15 million today? For 'key' leaders, their properties should be above 30 million?

Bro.

How about their portfolio in so many Boards, stocks, shares, bonds... etc.
Both fixed and tangible assets.

Those you mentioned not included. I was just referring to their properties. I recall it was suggested in the past but either LKY, GCT or LHL argued that it was sufficient for the PM to know. Need not go public coz that would deter the good men and women from entering politics.

Ha ha... so it is quite true that PM could make his ministers and MPs be yes men and control (not manage) them.

I am quite sure most S'poreans would be okay with people like Lily Neo, Ng Eng Hen, Sham, Richard Hu etc having several properties. They made their mark and $$$$ on their own.

PM's problem lies with his incompetent ministers who owns several properties through their obscene salaries.
Maybe, another fear is any discovery pertaining to ministers purchasing their properties from their grassroots chaps who are developers themselves. Cannot rule out special discounts given. I am aware two big time developers are from the grassroots.

Thank you.
Noticed that you are quite knowledgeable at Gov. and civil servant circle (Ref: other posts by you about Police, Ministers and MPs).
What happened if we have free media published like MSM?
Many skeletons in the cupboard...

It was GCT who asked for all PAP MPs to declare their assets to him only after the PAP MP started to take-up directorships. What was interesting is that he never asked for the immediate family's assets.

Now, French is moving to make political office holders to declare their assets.
When will it be happened in sinkie land?

French ministers to declare assets publicly after scandal

PARIS (AFP) - France's Socialist government said it had ordered ministers to declare their assets publicly within days, as it seeks to limit the damage from a tax fraud scandal involving an ex-minister.
Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault announced on Monday that ministers would have until April 15 to publish details of their assets as part of a package of new financial transparency measures.
The government will also put forward a law on financial transparency among ministers and other top officials by April 24, with plans for it to be adopted by the summer, he said in a statement.
The move comes as President Francois Hollande's government scrambles to contain a scandal surrounding former budget minister Jerome Cahuzac, who last week was charged with tax fraud after admitting to having an undeclared foreign bank account.
