Someone in the company left, he was an effective salesman but very demanding, remuneration wise. Was badmouthing the boss behind his back. Manipulative, he had attempted to get the boss's secretary, a highly competent administrator to leave with him at the same time.

The day after he left, the boss called a staff meeting and I still remember his words to this day.

He darkly expounded, "This is my own company. I built it up from nothing. One day, some or all of you may leave for one reason or another. The void of your leaving will be felt for some time. It will create some problems for the company but it will be filled by someone else and after a short period of time you will be but a fuzzy memory. Remember and understand this. No one in life is indispensable to a company's success except the boss owner."

I swear this a true account of my work experience. Never thought I 'll see the day when the same situation unfolds before my eyes.

Your ex boss is correct, no one is indispensable, I never consider myself to be one too, when I am working for somebody & expect my subordinates too; & I state that clearly to them. As long as we are working for somebody, we are not only indispensable but disposable...so work like a mercenary.

An employer-employee relationship is like a man-woman relationship.

The person who wants it less has all the power, and calls the shots.

It's different..Your boss will F##$#k you, but you rarely gets to F$$#@k your boss!!!.

Depends on how daring and creative you want to be, you can f your boss really well. Many disgruntled employees have taken the best clients away, leaving the boss with scraps.

Sad that in my Line of work; i shudders at the thought if anyone of my key men decide to go on
a coupLe of days of no pay Leave..worse if he decides just to go uncontactabLe !

sales people all talk cock and bull. they spend like crazy on entertainment, screw around paid for by the company, give kickbacks etc. They act like millionaires. But no substance.

Your boss is only half right, some employee can finish the boss owner, I also saw with my own eyes how a freight company's employee did that to their boss. All key people left at the same time, set up another co and took 80% of his clients, they did well after that. Their ex boss owner struggle for a few years and close shop. So there's no absolute.

What a remarkable coincidence! That company was a freight forwarding company as well. The fucker is still going strong today bad heart operations and all. And in your opinion would this happen?........

The same "philosophy" goes to any politician or political party as well.
Heros and leaders come and go just like any "product life cycle".

The world still keep spinning around even in the absence of you, me or anybody else.

Eventually, the "Invisible Hands of Adam Smith" will bring everything back to it's course
but on a different path and the same cycle repeats itself again.

Hence nobody can truly claimed that the world, country, or company will live without him/her.

I've worked a many MNCs. Seen many Vice Presidents, General Managers,... leave & things just go on as normal. They might take their gang with them to the next company, but life goes on.

Expect the same to happen when LHL get kicked out. Except that when he leaves he'll probably have to run road with his family to avoid questions on how THE family business was run:D

Double entendre??

This one very true statement, but business should not away be about dependency.

I am focusing on the VALUE of each employee. Also as human being, we must not forget the emotional need of all individual.
Sometime, a little bit of understanding and compliment helps. Yes, people come, people go is unavoidable. But the intangible
losses are unmeasurable.

Thanks you.

Don't be so mamadrama lah. It is a true story.

Bro, you are a smart one no doubt about it but intelligence is no guarantee one has any EQ. All good and successful bosses do possess some EQ and those really successful ones have lots of it. It's only those that fail or got screwed by their employees are those possessing little or none of it at all.

Companies that treat their employees as temporary staff that come and go and care less about their well-being are those that are destined to fall along the wayside eventually whereas those that care for them and treat them as part-owners will prosper despite the ups and downs.

Bro, live in your well and continue your diatribes in SBF. I feel you can be a better contributor and a better person if you take some trouble to touch base with us members. Comments in SBF do not as a whole embody the person behind the PC, and our perception of that person's personality is usually skewed.
