Idk, but is company trip really necessary? From a family POV.
General

First of all, I want to make it clear, I am not against company trips. I support my husband and I want good things for him. Please don't misread this.

I know everyone has been talking about after office hours gatherings or weekend bonding sessions that honestly feel like another OT or entertaining the boss. That conversation has been said enough, we all know how that feels.

Today i just wanted to raise something similar, but from the family side.

My partner recently got invited to his company's anniversary trip. Overseas.

And yes, everyone is excited. Especially when it's a bunch of guys, good team, good colleagues, of course want to go lah. And honestly? I don't blame them. If me, I would want to go too.

Thb, I feels a little left out and imbalanced.

Because the ones quietly sacrificing behind all these company events, is always the family and partner.

I know some people will say "if your partner really cares, he/she will skip it.".

But it's not always that simple. Some go because they are management/ organizer themselves. Some go because they genuinely have a great team and don't want to miss out. Some just don't want to be the only one not there. I get all that.

But slowly without realizing, leaving the family and partner behind has become just another thing that comes with the job. And i have friends their company trips are all 5 mans and 1 women for the trip, since is a small company. And they are so many cheating stories start with a company trip and staying at hotel etc. Everything is very insecure and mind-blowing to me.

And that doesn't feel right. I know maybe someone will say again, you are too selfish, thinking too much or inconsiderate or anything etc.

But idc, just questioning is company trip really a necessary things?

This is purely from a family POV.
