Man U vs Madrid - Referee Kelong! Result Fixed??

Yeah, Mike Phelan was a former Man Utd great and had a grand total of one England cap.
He would be a "great choice" especially if Fergie went upstairs as a director.

Do you think Mourinho could be a good replacement for SAF, it he retires after this season?
I would rather see him at Man U than at those mercenaries at Stamford Bridge.

Whatever the decision of the referee, Real Madrid was clearly superior. Man U was pathetic in all ways - possession, attempts at goal, corners, creative play, etc. Man U is not in the same class!

Actually both equally good. But when one man short, Man U crumbled.

You should go check out the Man Utd fan forums e.g. Red Cafe and blogs e.g. Busby Babes.

Not very civil at all.

Oh isit? I never go to these sites. Thanks for the warning.

Uefa backs referee Cakir in Nani dismissal aftermath

The European football governing body has confirmed that Cuneyt Cakir will remain on its list of officials for the upcoming Champions League matches this season

Uefa has backed referee Cuneyt Cakir following his controversial decision to show Nani a red card during Manchester United's defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

The Portuguese winger was sent from the field after catching los Blancos defender Alvaro Arbeloa with a stray boot with United leading 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate in the sides' Champions League last-16 clash.

And, despite the Turkish official coming in for criticism after United went on to lose the tie courtesy of two quick-fire goals from the visitors against the 10-man Red Devils, Uefa insists there are "no issues" with Cakir.

"We have no problem with him," a spokesman told The Guardian. "There are no issues for us regarding the sending off.

"We will wait for the official reports of the match delegate and the referee's observer, as is procedure. If they raise concerns then we will act.

"He remains on our list of officials."

Cakir, who is set to officiate at the 2014 World Cup, is no stranger to red card controversy, having sent off John Terry during last year’s Champions League semi-final meeting between Chelsea and Barcelona.

I would rather see him at Man U than at those mercenaries at Stamford Bridge.

Probably not going to happen. Either he goes back to Chelsea or stays with Madrid, maybe even hop over to Bundesliga to troll Guardiola again.

Moyes may take over at Old Trafford.

Man Utd lost the game in Madrid and not in the theatre of dreams.

I do you know. See my previous post#82.
Many people seem to think that Mourinho is as good at tactics and winning as Fergie, but "not as good a person".
Imo, that's nonsense. Fergie isn't such a great person. He's merely a good manager who happened to be in a great club/situation.
Mourinho's ego, personality, winning mentality, tactial awareness, motivational skills, ability to spot talent, etc will be great for Man Utd.
The only things he's lacking are ability to nurture talent and longevity, both of which are inter-related.
If he has a long term objective and contract and time to develop young talent, he may do well in that as well.
More importantly, there are not many other alternatives who can do better.

No chance but he could remain in that capacity or take on some other role in the club. My money is on Moyes.

Moyes at Old Trafford may be = Roy Hodgson at Anfield.

you see even if singapore kelong the referee, he still get support from his swiss boss

the only reason fifa not happy about singaporean kelong the matches, is that they did not get a cut.

swiss can kelong, but nobody else can kelong.

an great example of swiss kelong is the world cup in south korea and japan, where both useless team get to go high on the table due to FIFA kelong.

i am happy singaporean made us proud by teaching swiss a lesson.

Jose or Pep? which you prefer?

I'm more incline to Jose, cox he can lift Man U to a bigger spotlight (exposure) due to his character, but can be good or bad impact. Man U style will be compromised, we wont be seeing fast flowing football.

Pep - if he stay long term, Man U will reaps more glory in the next 10 years, will see Barca style of playing, of cox, you need gifted players. But I dun see Pep will stay that long.... at most 4 years like his days at Barca.

Isn't this one of the games which is currently being investigated by FIFA for match fixing?

The game I'm aware being investigated is Liverpool vs Debrecen.

The game officiated by Ovrebo was Chelsea vs Barcelona. Not being investigated as far as we know.

Pep has only been successful at Barcelona, where he was a hero as a player and knew the club, system and players inside out.
Let's see how he does at Bayern.

Jose has been successful at Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid, besides all the qualities I mentioned earlier. Ego, personality, winning mentality, tactial awareness, talent spotting, motivation, etc.

I prefer Jose.

You are an incredibly stupid individual.

The kelong scandal was a global operation, with Singapore as the hub.

There was no kelong in last night's match, just a slightly harsh decision from a referee who was well-known for showing red cards.

Actually Nani's eyes was on the ball all the way, no intention to kick the other player, it was a harsh decision, but a lost is a lost, haha....

jesus, it was just a fxxking joke.

Anyone smell a rat?? The referee gave a dubous decision and turn the game...and many of us (including me) lost money. After reading about football fixing, I just wonder if the invisible hand came from ...right here. Care to comment!

DID YOU call the POLICE??

Manchester United fan calls 999 over Nani's red card ,A football fan was so disgusted with the referee's decision to send off Nani in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid he called 999.The 18-year-old Manchester United supporter was watching at home in a village near Bingham, Nottinghamshire.
He felt the red card shown to the United winger was a crime so called police. He later apologised for the call, saying he was caught up in the moment. Police will not take any action. 'Waste our time' The fan, who has not been named, called police at about 21:20 GMT during United's second leg clash against the Spanish giants.
He was incensed by the referee's decision to show Nani the red card for a high challenge on Alvaro Arbeloa.Ch Insp Ted Antill said: "While this recent example may be amusing, it illustrates the sort of insincere calls we have to deal with on a daily basis in the control room.
"They waste our time and they direct us away from genuine victims of crime, particularly if we dispatch officers out to something that turns out to be a bogus report."He warned that prank 999 calls were a crime and said people had been prosecuted in the past.
"It's no joke. In this case, the man realised his bad judgement and apologised and we decided not to pursue it further," he added.
Nottinghamshire Police said it received 6,933 recorded hoax calls in 2012, which is about 2% of all reported incidents.
Had Tuesday's 999 caller followed Sir Alex Ferguson's example, he would have avoided a police telling off - the Manchester United manager was said afterwards to be "too distraught" to speak about the match. The game turned after the dismissal of Portuguese winger Nani - whose real name is Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha - with Real Madrid scoring two quick goals to win the match 2-1, knocking United out of the competition 3-2 on aggregate.

His putting on the charm, with honeyed (oh so humble) post match speak on "what if 11 devils" sounds suspiciously laying the sweet ground? ;)
