Associate Professor Paul Tambyah explained the SDP's position on healthcare reform and called for the Government to shoulder greater responsibility when it comes to national expenditure on medical costs.

He was speaking at a forum titled Healthcare Policy and Values in Singapore, Now and in the Future organised by the Tembusu College, National University of Singapore.

Why reform the healthcare system? It's working wonderfully for me! And well-financed too.

8 years ago none of this would have occurred. Remember the occasion when Ng Eng Hen slaughtered the 2 dons while their boss Lim Chong Yah ran for cover and claimed amnesia. Singaporeans should not forget people like Paul T and the like.

The old man is still on the payroll, still has staff, fully security compliment, T&E, medical included and cunningly has no title nor responsibility. And thus the western press have started reporting him as retired.

So is he drawing his salary as an ordinary MP or as Minister Mentor? The same question applies to Goh Chok Tong too.

Hi bros laksaboy, scroobal, and leepotism,

Thank you very much for supporting my thread. You know I am one of the very few supporting the SDP in Sam's Forum. The majority of you brothers are supporting the WP. But at the end of the day we are all Singaporeans, right? :)

Tambayah himself supports all the opposition, not just the SDP. He just happens to find the SDP first so is staying there. In a sense he is less partisan to any particular opposition than most of us.

I support any opposition party that stand up to the greedy, selfish, uncaring and arrogant PAP. I am also more inclined to support SDP if there's a choice (eg. 3 corner contest).

I agree with you to some extent. If you read his facebook wall, you can see that he has "friends" from all the opposition parties.

I do not know him personally but so far have heard nothing negative about him. Obviously the powers-that-be have a different view. He put in an application to be NMP but was not successful. There are other people who became NMPs who were very outspoken, such as SKH, and did not succeed in getting a second term.

Should PT stand on the SDP ticket at the next GE, how will the powers-that-be respond? Maybe there will be no negative response. Maybe they consider him perfectly fine.

This government constantly needs to be reminded what are the main objectives and priorities in running a country.

I support the opposition. Any opposition.

You put a single-celled living organism candidate running against the PAP and I'll still vote for it.
Because that's the only rational, moral choice to make.

I don't think they need reminders. They simply appear to adhere to a Darwinian view of the world.

Comes from a family of do-gooders and well known in the medical fraternity.
