BREAD: Here's how the Hong Lim crowd size was worked out...

I have no reason to doubt the scale. Both maps show the lawn area of Hong Lim Park — bound by the inner foot path — to be about 65 metres square, with one corner eaten up by the community club’s stage.

During the rally itself, I moved around a fair bit, from the front of the crowd to the back and up the overhead bridge across New Bridge Road (far left of maps), observing the approximate density at several points. I also took a number of photographs so that I have a record of density. Two examples are below.

Photograph A (which you can click on to enlarge) was taken close to the metro station exit. It shows the back of the crowd. The footpath is visible. The tent where the rally speakers were is away to the left of the photograph. In fact you can see a gradient: the umbrellas are denser at the left of the photo (nearer the tent) than at the right edge. In the background is the community club stage, but don’t be mistaken, the people there are not the organisers and speakers; they are the audience, taking shelter from the drizzle. There are about 100 of them on the community club stage.

Some people think the numbers are insignificant at Speakers corner. But the true numbers are the percentages of votes the pappies have been getting for the past few elections. Which unfortunately for pappies voters have been in the decline by at least 5% for the past 2 elections.

If people here want to talk statistics than the 3k sinkees at hong lim is nothing compared to the 5% loss in voters for the pappies. Another 5% in 2016 and another 5% in 2021 and I am sure this figure will not represent only 3k sinkees that went to speakers corner the other day.

You can argue as much as you can about how many turned up at speakers corner but statistics that already out there shows the numbers that papies are losing in their favour.

You do know those 'ah guas' who turned up for the Pink Dot event also consisted of:

1) Prominent local GLBT people who may be PAP supporters.

2) Tourists wanting to catch a glimpse of the closest thing to a gay pride parade.

3) Pro-gay NGO people from all over the world.

Whatever it is, either event had a better turnout that pathetic PAP rallies.

Even with dogs such as Lionel De Souza thrown in to make up the numbers, the PAP couldn't hit a 4-digit crowd number.
That's an epic fail.
