We should NOT have LKY School of these, Raja Rat Nam School of that, Goh Keng Swee School of that in the first place.
We should'nt also have photos of past leaders on currency notes. This is utter disgrace and speak volumes of "hero-worshipping".
However, History has proven that chosen names can be easily changed.
If I am not mistaken Leningrad is once again renamed St. Petersburg.
Mahathir, the so-called Malay (actually a born Mamak) changed Telok Anson to Telok Intan.
Port Swettenham to Port Klang, Jalan Birch (named after the murdered British Resident) to Jalan Maharajalela (the name of Birch Murderer).
India renamed Bombay (Mumbai), Madras (Chennai), Calcutta (Kolkata), Trivandrum (Thiruvanthapuram), Cochin to Kochi, Bangalore to Bangaluru, etc...
The new National Stadium should be named with an icon that holds every race dear. A British Constellation plane crashed at Kallang Airport in the 50's. Why not call it The Constellation Stadium. Crowds can see the stars shining above them. Just a suggestion, as someone may even want to rename it as Sang Nila Utama Stadium (after the original founder) or Yamashita Stadium (after the Japanese General who killed thousands in the Kallang vicinity too).
I hope the day will not dawn when visitors flying into Singapore will be told by the flight attendants of LKY Air, that they will soon be landing at LKY International Airport, once the runway is clear of fighter planes from LKY Air Force. From the airport travellors can board a LKY Taxi at the LKY Taxi-stand and then travel in Comfort along LKY Boulevard towards KGC Highway and finally arriving at LKY Hotel where there will be rooms named after LKY, KGC, Raja Rat Name, GKS, Toh Chin Chye and many more.
Visitors will start to think that they are in North Korea.
Anyway, let them give whatever names they fancy. The citizens will be able to change it later.
